The White Sox were apparently last.

I know at least two Tigers fan buddies that would give them an F. Especially after last nights game.

Those grades are pretty wild. I think the cubs, tigers, Red Sox, brewers, angels and Braves all did worse than the Sox all things considered.

I think they really just grade them on the amount of roster churn.

Wouldn't be shocked if we spent more time on it in the last two hours then Jim did. He probably just asked ChatGPT and then the graphics intern made the art.

by one person, Bowden.

Probably all based on not trading Robert.

Other GMs hate Chris Getz was not on my bingo card.  Would have been worth explaining why a bit if you are going to say it out loud

It's because Chris Getz fleeces other GMs so badly in trades.

Nonsensical. I've seen a couple of these lists and they are entirely meaningless. I compare the Sox to the Cubs and the Cubs are performing 'better' than the Sox on these dumbass listicles, meanwhile Cubs fans are irate that their team didn't do jack and at least we did....something. The "Athletic" aka NYT sports section is a fuckin rag. I think they're trolling White Sox fans for the page views, but it's not even a large fanbase. I think these guys are just dumb and bad at their jobs.

Lmao.  If they were trolling for clicks, they would go after an actually engaged fanbase.  They really are bad at their jobs if they targeted Sox fans for clicks

mcbain voice: that's the joke. if there was a white sox fanbase, james fegan would be a billionaire and own the team. the white sox fanbase is like 30 people on soxtalk and those two people who got married at the game and did a little dance. highlight of the season btw

The Pope could possibly be a Soxtalk & Sox Machine subscriber.

Bowden...nuff said. No one should be using his opinion as proof of anything.

I get that he is paid to put out his opinion, but a seller could be going for the long haul which might take a few years to pan out.

I wholeheartedly agree with that. I'm not a huge fan of grading trades right away but we all do it .

Teams do it for different reasons. In the Twins case it was to get rid of contractual obligations more than anything. They accomplished what they wanted to do so someone might give them an A. Trades are never really based only on what you got for what you gave up. It takes years sometimes to come to conclusions that are reliable. Some people think if you win the World Series you automatically win a trade even if there was no significant contribution from who the Series winner got back. So in that case it's too early to give grades

Houser got back 15+ years of MLB service time and one of the guys was a former top 50 prospect . Houser has about 50 games left before he's a Free Agent on a team that needs a minor miracle to make the playoffs.

We gotta give credit where it's due. Getz is no longer the devil. He's made some great moves including picking up this Mead guy. As well as Tauchman and the others we discuss a lot.

Folks, it's time to raise a glass to Getz. I'm thinking he 'gets it' in terms of talent evaluation, baby. BTW: Quero and Teel are for real IMO.

Any current or former haters of Getz willing to raise your glass with me to toast (not roast anymore) him?

does that even need an answer?

I'm thinking he 'gets it' in terms of talent evaluation,

I also look at it this if he is successful (not by our lowly standard yardstick) under Reinsdorf, I think some organizations would be after him.  Especially the cheap ass ones.

Why would other organizations be looking to hire a second year GM away from another team? He just got the job and has a lot of autonomy in a great city, why would he be looking for a new job?

Is there precedent for that? David Stearns, the wunderkind we might compare Getz to (new job, same year, young age) was with Milwaukee 8 years before the Mets hired him. Meanwhile, the Mets are underperforming and the Crew are better than ever.

This thread has been awful quiet for months and I assume it’s because fans have realized that Getz isn’t a moron. Are we still mad about the lack of an interview process?

we have hindsight now: who should have been hired in your view?

edit: it's an indictment on Craig Counsell too. I liked his batting stance, but is he any good at managing? The pocket pancake guy who doesn't speak spanish is having more success

I’m starting to believe that he knows what he’s doing, his biggest problem is he’s working for a cheap jerk.
If he continues to improve, it will be interesting if Ishbia keeps him around.

I don't even think another club can request an interview unless it's for a clear promotion, which means that teams would have to interview Getz for PBO. That's ludicrous.
