Fire Chris Getz

Getz so far is doing a fine job especially considering the financial constraints.

Kenny Williams, Hahn and Haber are all out of baseball.

Thinking that Sale Quintana Rodon Crochet and Schultz led directly to Hagen Smith and not a position prospect is going to haunt Getz.
Luckily, Braden and Teel were acquired to cover up some of that loss, but Robert crashing also cost another injection of top prospects.

Two steps backwards.  We’ll see how Colson finishes.

I would feel much better about Baldwin as an OF if he could actually catch a flyball. He's dropped more than one. Reminds me of a more mobile Ron Kittle. Back in the day I read where Greg Luzinski of all people, played the role of Carnac, an old Johnny Carson bit where he gives the answer then opens an envelop with the question. The answer was Catch 22. The question was what would Ron Kittle do if you hit him 100 flyballs. I feel Baldwin is very similar with the leather.

Wake me up when we have a new owner who hires people based on merit instead of loyalty.  I'll set my alarm clock for 2029.

Our everyday lineup is good and full of potential. Our pitching reeks. Not Getz's fault. No $$s. I think this season he grades A-minus. Jerry grades F

Payroll is certainly a factor but then again Miami is on pace for 19 more wins than the Sox with a lower payroll.

Average: 30th

OBP: 29th

Slugging: 29th

OPS: 29th

Reminder, there are only 30 teams in the league. So no, the lineup isn't good Greg.

We've been trending a lot better without Vaughn, Amaya, Palacios, Capra, etc.

Obviously small sample size but last 30 days:

Average: 6th

OBP: 15th

Slugging: 4th

OPS: 4th

Gives me the slightest glimmer of hope cause this is with 6+ guys who will most likely be in lineup next year. I'm not sure if they can keep that up but i'll definitely be interested to see 1st half vs. 2nd half comparisons after the season.

Vaughn and Palacios combining for - 3 bWAR certainly didn't help and getting them off the team was addition by subtraction. They had a nice little streak after the break where they score 10+ runs in 4/7 games but since then they have pretty much looked like the same team they were before the break offensively.

I agree with you, it's definitely a positive but I don't know how anyone can look at this lineup and say with a straight face our everyday lineup is good (Doesn't mean they wont be good eventually). We'll be lucky if any of these guys finish with more than 2 bWAR and that's just where you get starter worthy value.

If your entire lineup produces at substitute levels, you don't have a good lineup.

I agree. Not good....yet.

They've been playing .407 ball since 5/1. That's roughly 65-66 wins over 162.

That's still really bad...

A few days ago it was .420 ball since May 1st....

I guarantee if guys get shut down for innings and etc at end of the year and they finish similar to how they started in April, we'll be hearing how "when they played their guys, they were actually a 65 win team" and that "the end of the season should be thrown away."

You are what your record says. They're on pace to lose 103 games. Will be the 4th time in 55 years that they've lost 100+ games, and twice were under Captain Getz.

I'm telling you, setting the bar as low as Getz did last year has genuinely helped him with some fans. Anchoring works, as has been proven time and time again, and Getz anchored himself to the worst record in baseball history at the time.

I heard an interview with Thorpe a few days ago and they asked him... "how is the locker room and how are the guys this year" and he talked about how much better it is in there and how they're so much better than last year. This is the second worst team in baseball 😂

Jerry has found his dream match in Getz. He used to think he had to do well enough to finish in 2nd place and keep the fanbase engaged. Now he realizes he can just be so bad that any semblance of competency will lead to some fans endlessly talking about a bright future.

I was starting to give him credit for the farm system looking improved, but I'm rescinding that. Getz fucked blows.

I don't think Sox fans from 1970, when the team lost a franchise record 106 games, could imagine in a million years that 55 years later, there'd actually be any hint of accolades for a front office that is in the process of giving us a 103-loss season and 3 years in a row of 100+ losses.

It’s embarrassing and @Look at Ray Ray Run is spot on.  It reminds me of that Mad TV skit from ages ago…

nice :cool:

a .420 winning percentage across 162 games, if you round up, is 69 wins. just saying.

I remember when 69 win seasons were calls to clean house.

That how desensitized some Sox fans now are given the garbage they have been seeing on a regular basis since 2007.

Since July, Getz seems to be far more concerned with maxing that 2026 win total than developing a team that might be able to win in a couple of years.

The light went on and he realized that he could bring back his entire .407 OF for next season.  One less thing to worry about.  Hurrah!

The non-effort at the deadline and clinginess to these veterans is stunning and is stunting.   It's a shame because the young pitching is coming together.

What's the difference? If he builds a team that can win a bunch next year, isn't that good? I would be surprised if Robert isn't traded.

KW's biggest "failures"...

2007=72-90

2009=79-83

2011=79-83

Average is 77-85

Sounds absolutely wonderful to me now.  And that's not even "mired in mediocrity," it's one step or tier below.
