Well, everyone for the next 10 years can thank this lady for getting us all screened 3 times over before we walk into the park now (if it was her gun)

Perhaps a dumb question, but is there any way this whole this is a hoax? Reddit seems to think so, but they also think Rick Hahn is a good GM. I'm not going to pretend to know anything about ballistics or how that bullet casing should look.

lol the subreddit does not think Hahn is a good GM. of course there's a few oddballs who do, but that's what happens on the internet.

If that is the ultimate conclusion,  the White Sox and JR should be significantly fined by MLB.  for the security breach, and for not doing anything for the safety of the fans in attendance let alone the players and umpires after the shooting occurred.

As I noted in the other Jerry wants another stadium thread, their agreement with the ISFA stipulates they are responsible for all aspects of security, and to review their security procedures with the ISFA every other month.

White Sox obligations under the ISFA agreement:

https://www.isfauthority.com/assets/management-agreement-with-all-amendments2.pdf

  • (PDF Page 38-39) Team shall be exclusively responsible for the management and operation of the Stadium, including but not limited to the hiring of all security, crowd control...
  • (PDF Page 52) Prior to the beginning of each Season (commencing with the first season in which Team plays in the Stadium), and every second month during each Season (or more often at . the request of either party), representatives of Team and Authority shall meet to: (i) Review Team's Routine Maintenance and security procedures, which shall be submitted to Authority prior thereto in writing by Team.

Also, the City of Chicago have closed dozens of businesses via a Summary Closure Order, and should do the same with Comiskey Park if they continue to operate as a threat to public safety. They should also bill the White Sox for all the labor costs, CPD helicopter costs, and all other costs the city incurred to respond to their security lapse through the completion of their investigation.

ELEMENTS REQUIRED FOR A SUMMARY CLOSURE ORDER
The Public Safety Threat - Summary Closure ordinance gives the Superintendent the authority to act quickly to close a business establishment whose continued operation is determined to be a public safety threat. However a summary closure may be ordered only when ALL of the below elements are present:
  • A. A violent offense occurs at the establishment
    • 1. "Violent offense" means the illegal discharge of a firearm;....
    • 2. The violent offense takes place A. Inside the establishment.
  • B. The violent offense takes place when 1. The establishment is open for business.
  • C. A person involved in the violent offense has a connection to the establishment:
    • The violent offense involves acts of the licensee/owner, or its employees, agents, or patrons....
  • D. Information is available to support a reasonable determination that continued operation of the establishment presents a public safety threat - including, but not limited to calls for service, case reports...

Update on Second City Cop:

Here’s the breakdown as it was told to my by police on scene. Obese woman hides a gun in a fold of fat. The woman then attempted to discretely remove this firearm and it discharged striking her in the leg and then an innocent gets grazed in the stomach. Extremely embarrassing for the Sox and their security staff.

Consistent with reports yesterday that those involved were released from (or escorted out of) the stadium, as the perp and the woman she was with were transported to area hospitals.

Far more likely than the magic bullet theory 2.0 from a mile away, especially if casings were found.

perhaps they were stuck in her fat fold.

Yep, the story verified by two White Sox sources. Have to believe her embarrassing FUPA "gun pouch" details will be left out of public reports, but hope someone files a FOIA request for the police reports.

Two sources within the White Sox organization told CWBChicago that the most seriously injured woman, a 46-year-old who received a gunshot wound to her thigh, triggered a metal detector as she entered the ballpark before the game. But she was cleared and allowed to proceed. The second victim, 26, declined medical attention because her injury was not serious.

Wow…hopefully one day we find out the entire truth.  Definitely still some pieces that don’t add up.

Not sure man. Anything defending Hahn or feeling bad for Hahn as if he's some victim gets upvoted to the top every time.

On the outside, GM puts together great looking roster, owner hires even older crony who destroys team, GM gets fired. Unless you really follow the team, it seems plausible.

Would be nice, but I doubt it.  All the different stories swirling sound like CYA territory.

Coulda had $50.

Getting the medical report which states the bullet is lodged in the persons leg, and was not in the seat behind, makes it impossible to believe it could have been anything other than fired by them or near them.

I still don’t buy a cover up. This person may have been able to ditch the weapon as the security said the team didn’t know she was shot until she was in the ambulance. Probable she could ditch the weapon since apparently she was walked out.

That's what I was thinking. Entering the stadium will be a hassle big time in future.

None of that makes any sense. How did nobody hear the gunshot? How did someone pickup a fairly immaculate looking bullet after? How do you hide a fucking gun under a fat roll and walk all that way with it, without it falling out? The gun went off right in the seats with those people around, and nobody heard the gun shot, or saw her gun? Come on.

There is not much more they can do.

They will need to have women at each gate if they are going to start groping / patting down people who continue to set off the metal detectors on multiple attempts.

What about people with metal plates?

They have limited options without turning off customers. They can’t have a TSA style system with cancer machines and the escalations those agents are able to get away with.

And with the wages they pay, and the staff they hire, I don’t expect diligence to be thorough or long lasting once this blows over.

I'm sure it will greatly inconvenience the 3k people per game that attend next season. ?

She had a silencer on her concealed handgun

You are making a lot of assumptions about “nobody” doing this or that.

TV only interviewed one fan, last name Miller, and he stated he heard a shot.  Nobody else aired, but CPD and CWS likely had additional witnesses.

The TV interview was also accurate when the reporter stated the suspected persons involved were escorted out of the stadium. They were taken to the hospital, not arrested.

Those initial magic bullet reports were worse than the BS from the Warren Commission. The CYA CWS CPD statements offered minimal information. The White Sox were clearly lying when they stated it was unclear whether the shots were fired inside or outside the stadium, based on the statements from multiple CWS employees.

Jerry Reinsdorf is going to increase their pay greatly to ensure fan safety

Jerry could give a rats ass about fans, including their safety, established over three generations of White Sox fans.

His ass was safe and sound in the owners box.

Well, there's pretty much nothing out there as far as official reporting is concerned. I was going off of the clip I saw. Gun shots are loud. Especially in a space like that. You would have thought people would have reacted very, very differently if a gun went off 20 feet away from them. People didn't even notice, it seems.

All I can think is perhaps the dumb ass had the muzzle against her leg, and her leg muffled the gunshot drastically. Especially if she was fat.

Either way, if someone snuck a gun in like that, the White Sox should be in deep s%*#. There's nothing this organization does well. Not even security...

This report from local Fox states many people were fleeing the scene, and that Police requested the game be stopped, without further details.

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/chicago-police-almost-completely-dispelled-shooting-white-sox-game-came-outside-stadium.amp

Videos posted to X, formerly Twitter, showed some panicked stadium goers running away.

Police wanted the game to be stopped after the shooting.

Would like to have more facts or follow up regarding the second statement.

Did Jerry or his minions actually tell the City / CPD no, we are not stopping the game?

Or was this perhaps an initial request that was reversed by the police once they had additional information that this was an accidental discharge? I’m thinking the latter if the request is accurate.

I actually talked about how not all gunshots sound how you think on page 3. You laughed at it lol.

That's pretty infuriating. Just tell the truth. We all know the ballpark is not in the best neighborhood in the world or surrounded by the best neighborhoods in the world. 35th and Shields may be OK around Bridgeport but it's not exactly nirvana.

Why would the fan hide a loaded gun in her fatroll? That's pretty absurd in itself. Of course it might go off.
