I messed up quoting you for the notification.

People are using the phrase "start his clock" but Monty's clock is going to be started regardless of whether it's in September or December. If he's brought up in September, they'll just have to hold him back next year, starting him out in AAA just to make sure he doesn't burn a full year of control before 2026.

No, his clock doesn’t start it December when he is added to the 40-man.

Right. If you assume Colson either breaks 2025 camp with the Sox or is called up in the first ~3 weeks of the season, giving him a cup of coffee this September won’t make a difference. Keeping him in AAA this year as they should and calling him up sometime in May or June 2025, Sox secure an extra year of control. Pushing that date back a month it’s stupid; he hasn’t earned it and assuming he’s breaking camp with the 2025 Sox is a very shortsighted assumption. But this is the Sox after all.

Montgomery is at the very least 1 full year away. This isn't a discussion worth having.

Tim is above the Maldonado line, and is faster, but can he catch?

Is TA going to be done with baseball?  Anyone could sign him for the pro-rated min, or a minor league deal and nothing.  Crazy to think this was possible 2 years ago.

Yeah, Atlanta just signed a 35 year old Whit Merrifield to fill a hole in the infield.

Not sure he's a middle infielder. Nacho is currently playing 3b. Can really hit, though.

Riley would be blocking him then.

Must be planning on at least trying him at second to get his best in the lineup somewhere.

Maybe he should be out of baseball for a year and fully heal.  Then he could try playing in a non MLB organization and be a dumpster dive.

He seems like a good candidate to go to Japan or some place to rebuild his value
