Better than the alternative (bronny) Great summer league play doesn't mean much - but being awful in summer league play is usually a bad sign. Matas has certainly had his flashes of positives. You can see he is raw and has a lot of work on - but you can also see some projectible upside in him.

Physically and basketball wise he’s three years away from being of any use in the NBA. College or Europe is where he belongs right now.
July 17, 20241 yr With summer league in flight time to get a new thread and away from that old cursed thread
July 17, 20241 yr Man. Seeing 3 meaningless summer league games - I really like the chip and swagger that our young rookie plays with. This is most excited I’ve been about a rookie since Lauri (who we knew I loved). He is still thin and has to work on his shot - hit his handles are way better than expected and athleticism is real good for his size. Showed good basketball iq and passing. Just a lot to like - full well knowing he will have ups and downs next year while he works on those developmental areas but I like his long term potential. In general despite fact team will lose quite a few games, if they keep Lavine for part of the year (and just not play Vuc or dump Vuc cause he is just awful to watch play)….but they will be far more enjoyable to watch in terms of playing fast and having more flow to offense. Again - they will suck, but a far more enjoyable suck.

I think "Of any use" is a bit of a stretch. I think if the manage to trade Lavine and Vuc, and he gets heavy minutes, I could see him in the ROY conversation. He certainly doesn't seem to lack confidence/aggression ala Williams.
July 27, 20241 yr Ball has been cleared for 5 on 5. No idea what he'll bring back to the table, but I'm intrigued.
September 5, 20241 yr How many guards do the Bulls need? They just signed Talen Horton-Tucker of Simeon fame, but damn, they have A LOT at the guard position... Especially is Lonzo comes back..

September 25, 20241 yr AKME was on the score this morning. I wasn’t able to catch it, but got the notification
September 26, 20241 yr Damn.. hits me in the feels. Happy retirement D-Rose. End of an era. Shame injuries robbed him. He should've been a HOF player.

October 17, 20241 yr Nothing would make me happier than Lonzo having a legit quality career post injury. One game but he looked legit good.
October 18, 20241 yr Listening to Will Perdue on CHGO, I kinda agree: The Bulls might not be bad enough to keep their first rounder. That doesn't mean good. Just that they don't feel tank-y enough.
October 20, 20241 yr My bold prediction is the Bulls will be closer to trading for a legit big than they will be to tanking this year. Barring injuries of course. Giddey brings the same sorta court vision the Bulls had with Ball before he got hurt. That's one of the things this team has been missing. Oh, and hey look, Ball is back too..... I think Billy really gets things moving with this group.

Despite the time off, he still looks like he has better chemistry with Zach. And that won't gel well with Giddey in a contract year.
