Sox "gathering names" in MGR search

‘‘We’ve built out a process that we feel very good about,’’ Getz said. ‘‘Simultaneously, we’ve been able to collect names through referrals or our own research, and we feel pretty good about the amount of candidates that we have. Once we get our season to the finish line, we’ll devote more time and begin the interview process.

‘‘It’s really about understanding what we feel is the best fit for the Chicago White Sox and finding the criteria we feel is going to make for a strong decision in the end.’’

Getz said he wants to be respectful of contending teams and doesn’t have a timeline.

Literally in the history of baseball, this has not happened.  There are excuses, and then there are fantasies.

  • His strategy is to delay, delay, delay so he's employed longer.

Definitely.  He knows he’s never getting another GM job again so he has to make the most of this.

Yeah, that was really vague. He was asked to provide more detail later and didn't. I can excuse some of it because its not the end of the season yet, but you should still know what you want. The decision has probably been made for him already.

Willie Harris will come back to manage the Sox 20 years after winning the World Series with the team. What a feel good story it will be. We won't even notice a third straight 100 loss season.

I can't believe they're not considering TLR.

Do they think it's innovative to have a process to hire the right candidate for a position?

He's busy pulling the marionette strings attached to Getz.

They probably think simply having a process is innovative.

They can't even show us an example of a Process they've gone through or established that has worked...

The headline totally sounds like a threat.

The manager I want to see (no joke) is Ricky Renteria.

Say what you will about his 2020 late-season and postseason managerial moves, but he knows how to help players grow, even on losing teams.

Don't rule it out.

Way too close for comfort.

In other words, they already have the next manager lined up, but they won't announce it until after the season to make it look like they did a search.

They have a process but they don't have the criteria. Seems right.

Bobby Cox, another HoF manager is available.

Being out of the game for years is generally a criteria. Either being passed over or not actively looking to be a manager, is something JR values. Toss in JR lamenting that "letting him leave was my second biggest mistake" would be icing on the turd.

You left off Grady Sizemore.

If I were a betting man I would bet he stays.

I want Ditka.   Laugh all you want but he'd be better than Grifol or Sizemore (probably Schumaker as well)

He won't be on any short lists after his interim stint, that's for sure.

I’m gathering names of actresses I’d like to take home too.  Unfortunately I’ll probably end up with Bea Arthur (RIP).
