  • Who cares? The White Sox can't get any lower. They are going to be awful for years. If the Cubs are willing to pony up, do it.

It’s a bad market?

For trying to acquire a couple of top 50 prospects, it seems so.

If the trade is "getting closer" I am going to say Cubs, then.

Expecting teams that prospect hug to not prospect hug is wishful thinking. It's going to be super surprising to me if Baltimore pulls a trade off.

Mayer + Montgomery + 3rd piece?

I’ll take Campbell + Montgomery

Supposedly not available.  I wouldn’t mind Mayer, Casas and a solid prospect.

I’m just not sure what a Casas or Abreu does. Gives you a good player for the next 4-5 years I guess but the team might not even be good in that time.

And if they’re good, you trade them in a few years. I think Casas in our park could be a slugging machine.

Yes, this is the framework I mocked up.  If so, I think the 3rd piece would be more of a low level lottery ticket than a meaningful piece.

I don’t see them dealing Mayer and Casas in the same package.

Juan Soto signing tonight would be a good start.

I mean, everyone would prefer signing free agents vs. giving up prospects.  The question is can they win the Burnes or Fried sweepstakes.  And even if they do, those guys aren’t the beast that Crochet should be if healthy.

I think it will happen tomorrow.  Boras is going to make a spectacle out of this and that’s easier to do on day one of the winter meetings than the Sunday night before unfortunately.

Was thinking the same until this.

So we'll see

Mayer, Montgomery and Meidroth

If that offer is on the table from Boston would you take it?

I'm just going off the Morosi report saying the Red Sox have softened on the idea of trading Mayer in Crochet talks now.

That would be great!  s%*# will really start moving once he’s off the board. That being said, Jon Heyman is still out there spinning like crazy for Boras.  Either way, it seems like it won’t hold up the entire Winter Meetings like it could.

I have no interest in Casas. Abreu would be fine, because at least he's got an extra year of control, but I would still rather get a stronger package of prospects.
