So they can drop a few hundred million dollars and still lose 100 games?  Great story, all while giving up multiple draft picks.

Damn.  That likely eliminates the Blue Jays as a potential trade partner for Robert.

Why, Santander is a corner outfielder and eventually 1B/DH?

They still want Alonso and they only have Guerrero Jr. until the end of 2025, for example.

Spring er isn't even a true CFer anymore...but they do have Varsho and are unlikely to over value Robert at this point.

They just picked up their interim CF in Myles Straw.

Jays' fans are not happy at all about this one.  Consolation prize.

Went from 3/$82 to 5/$92...their own version of Benintendi.

Can't understand Straw (seriously jumping the gun) and why they essentially snapped out the much cheaper Horwitz for the MUCH more expensive Gimenez.

Everyone in baseball expects these last three years on the deal to be pretty miserable.  No hindsight needed or required.

I realize that Getz was not going to sign Santander or  anybody else worth having. Still. I can't help but wonder, who is going to be the White Sox DH in 2025?

A guy they rotate out of a starting position

The roof leaks, windows are busted, and the electric is shot, but why doesn't the cabinet door close evenly?

Whoever gets displaced at 3B for Alex Bregman signing...Colson Montgomery lol.

Maybe worry about SS and CF first?

With all due respect, does it even matter?

When the Sox start to concern themselves about being in the entertainment business...so probably 2027 at the rate they're currently plodding along at.

Because you simply can't expect rookie pitcher not named Skenes Strasburg or Sasaki to lead a rotation in 2026.

In Getz's idea...it would be unfair to do any evaluation of his GM tense until we are a full four years in.

Unless they're traded, one of Cannon, Martin, Thorpe or Burke will be the go to guy, opening day, 2026.

Gavin Sheets.  Getz is resigning him once his price comes down.

There's a decent chance baseball will not be played in 2027 due to owners trying yet again to get a salary cap instituted.

The Sox will still be awful so unlike 1981 or 1994 or 2020 it won't matter.

I'll believe that they are willing to sacrifice $13 billion in revenue when I see it.

That's not exactly reassuring, you must surely be aware of...???

Whatever. You can play the "everybody on the Sox will always suck" game, if you want. I was answering your fear that the Sox might be relying on an untested rookie to lead the staff in 26. One of those 4 pitchers is going to acquit themselves during the 25 season.

Based on Sox history, it will probably be Bryse Wilson.

Think because they get the big bat that they wanted. But yeah, they still could go for Robert too.

I guess...but it's not unlike the Cubs' situation with Tucker.

If he leaves the Cubs in free agency and Guerrero, Jr./Bichette both leave Toronto, they're just stuck with bad contracts for Gimenez Straw Santander.

Hits homers off bad pitchers. Probably won't help if they reach the playoffs.

That's a very valid point, but there are always die-hards (think JR in the past) that were willing to shut everything down in order to somehow break the union.

Also I'm guessing as they get closer the owners, like past times, will take out strike insurance that will help somewhat to off set losses.
