Worse than last year.  Getz is a wizard.

What did you think the beginning of this year was going to be? Check back in July.

  • Crochet’s a bad example. The league adjusted to his slider after like 5 starts last year and he started to get hit. He then worked with both Katz and Bannister to change his arsenal, including adding

This is my problem with the 2026/27 crowd, we have maybe 1 or 2 guys on that mid-season time frame, and one of them has a significant injury red flag.  I can't squint at this team and feel like we will have something to watch in the near future.

1 or 2?

Just in the lineup I see meidroth, Montgomery, Teel and quero. I guess it's more before the end of theyear not necessarily in july.

I think you'll see a fair number of bullpen guys as well including coffey, Adler, palette.

I also think Braden will go pretty quick through the system as a college guy.

The last three I could see, but I am not going to get excited by Meidroth or bullpen guys.

Very quickly for a guy who has zero MiLB ABs or experience is still a year or two away even if he FLIES through the system.  If that's the case though, I am not sure why we fired Rick Hahn.

It will still be awful in July.

Eh, I'm excited just to turn the roster over and get some talented young players. I really think palette can be exciting at the end of the pen.

I also like the lineup diversity a player like meidroth can bring. Something other than strikeouts.

Are you really telling me that you are going to be excited to tune into a game to watch relievers?  Eh.

Gotta have something to look forward to if you are a season ticket holder.

It actually will probably be worse since Robert will probably be traded away. If he doesn't get hurt beforehand.

Jerry's wallet is even going to get it's ass kicked this season.  Between the fall offs in attendance, advertisting, and TV money, it is going to be a very bad year for him and the investors, after about five straight years of lower than normal returns.

Gee...I wonder if a new managing partner would help.

Robert brings it all together with his leadership which you cannot just put a trade price on.

Not meaning to start a war here, but some analytics lovers (not saying you) love to see relievers pitch. Six-seven a game sounds about right to go with the four inning starter.

But they’ll be more interesting to watch as a whole because the young guys will start to show up.

Dan Altavilla was released.

Just got back from the weekend in Glendale. Not like we didn't know but directly from Wil Venable closer by committee seems to be the route. Worked horribly the last 2 years might as well do it again.

Would have liked a David Robertson signing to close and flip in June/July

Meidroth starting in Charlotte huh.  Well, that is disappointing as he should be getting as many ABs as we can feed him in another lost year

I have to wonder if a pitcher like him would avoid the Sox, because of the perceived inability for them to put him in save spots and boost his numbers into the trade deadline

Would’ve been nice.  Will be interesting to see what he eventually signs for.  Ultimately, I think he will probably be out of the Sox range of around $5 million.  Texas gave him $13 million for last season and he had a good year.  I know he’s old as dirt but he keeps putting up good seasons so I doubt he takes that much of a pay cut.

Moniak got released. I’d take over Jankowski.

I assume he will be the first one up from a positional aspect.

Definitely.  Younger and while they’ll both hit .220, Moniak can at least run into one every now and then.
