I would wager large sums of money that this is the same playbook for Ishbia / Jerry. 2
caulfield12
If Reinsdorf family shares are up to 20-25%....that's roughly $450-500 million (depending on how controlling shares are valued), and a touch under $100 million in taxes.

Theoretically it seems like Ishbia may own more of the team than Jerry a week from today. Obviously that doesn’t mean he will have control anytime soon, but Ishbia wouldn’t be making this deal if he had to wait out Jerry forever. We need that Ron Paul “It’s Happening” GIF right about now. I wouldn’t want to own more of a team without having actual control.

Melody Hobson 30-40% ownership in same limited position...merely a financial investment, seemingly.

Well, they don't have to sell, but as I am understanding it, I believe their shares will be diluted if they keep them.

Why would they be diluted? Unless they're buying in with a cash infusion. I know Jerry is Czar, but there would be lengthy litigation if he tried to bring in an outside buy-in and kneecap the current investors.

They have to create them by splitting the current shares to create whatever amount is being bought.

And what you're saying really depends on the structure. Limited partners don't really have any power in this case. So Jerry could certainly diluted shares without diluting value - especially given that he's coming in at 1.8 billion.
