Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox

I did a web search in order to look at the Ishbia's Winnetka residence on Lake Michigan.  I find it interesting to look at large estate properties and mansions like MJ had. It became clear that Mat and his wife spared no effort or cost to get what they wanted and end up where they wanted to be.   The take away for me as a Sox fan is that they could live anywhere but chose the Chicago area to put roots down. Same goes for Mellody Hobson who owns several properties in Chicago.

Hopefully he would spare no expense on the Sox roster as well, if he becomes owner along with his brother.

To be honest, the dream is Ishbia coming in, building a beautiful new park at the 78, and having a couple mega free agents to supplement young core.  I love going to the Rate but it’s time for a new,

You mean Justin..?  Referring to Tray...unless they BOTH have $100+ million structures in Winnetka.

Does he take a helicopter to work?

Is this a serious post?  Please tell me you aren’t this sensitive.

The SLAM forum used to have a sub-forum called “The Filibuster” and it got so spicy, it was shut down.

Since then political topics have been somewhat of a taboo.

You were around back then, I’m pretty sure… so this is a useless post… just like all of my other posts.

So, nothing new… excuse me and carry on.

"Alternatively, perhaps there is an arrangement where Reinsdorf avoids capital gains taxes by keeping his shares until death, but concedes control to you, with a definitive amount to be paid (either in fixed price or by formula) upon his journey to That Great Tax Shelter in the Sky. That could only be done if Jerry desires it, but he could easily rewrite the corporate arrangement to make it so.

You could then hold a smiling joint news conference, as you say nice things about him and he says nice thing about you, everybody cheers, and then he drops you off at your fortress in Winnetka on his way home to Highland Park.

Perhaps you are saying nothing because it feels maudlin to discuss another man’s death, particularly a death which would make so many people happy. No doubt you see that as bad karma. If so, hundreds of thousands in the Chicago area are in a karma conundrum."

This is my take on what's happening.

Mat lives in the Detroit area, in a house that apparently includes a trampoline park 🤣

Like I said, it might not mean anything. But given the timeline of all this, I do think it’s interesting that he started following a bunch of Sox related accounts within the last day or so.

the Sox just hired Justin’s cousin, Yonder Ishbia, as a ticket sales rep.

Is that a made up name...like Alonso?

Friends & Family?  ESPN analyst?

"On the other hand, supporters of Ishbia’s approach argue that his passion and accessibility set a positive tone for the organization. His hands-on leadership style, while unconventional, can inspire employees and players alike, by demonstrating a deep commitment to excellence. In some ways, his micromanagement tendencies may reflect a desire to right the wrongs of the past, ensuring that the team operates with accountability and transparency. However, striking the right balance between active involvement and allowing professionals to lead remains a critical challenge for Ishbia as he continues to guide the Suns. Whether his hands-on style fosters long-term success or leads to friction will depend on his ability to trust his team while maintaining the enthusiasm that has already made an impact."

For conspiracy theorists, Justin Ishbia has ties to Nashville/Vandy, but it's not like he's been living/working there for the past 20 years. He clearly is in Winnetka and the Chicagoland area to stay from all accounts...and supposedly a big baseball fan compared to Matt, who's more of a basketball guy for obvious reasons.

Hopefully, this private equity billionaire's minority stake isn't what it kind of looks like-  a minority stake by a private equity billionaire - a predicate for the all-too-familiar private equity investment strategy. I have seen that game by PE billionaires all too frequently over the past several years, and in many cases, it has been ugly.  Hopefully that isn't what is going on here.

Yeah, hopefully the team can continue to be run by Reinsdorfs, so we can continue to enjoy all the success the team has had.

Yeah, it has really been a great run. It will be hard for the next owner to top it.😗

I have literally read this post 10 times I have no idea what you’re trying to get at here.  Clearly you hate Private Equity, that’s abundantly clear, but what that has to do with Ishbia owning the White Sox is beyond me.

Yeah, we don't want it ruining what we have had for the last 45 years.  That would be awful.

I mean his brother is PE, but I would sayin a battle between being owned by a PE firm or a landlord, you take the PE firm.

Justin owns the PE firm, but just not sure what tray is implying by bringing this fact up.  First, I don’t know what bringing a “private equity” mindset to sports ownership even means.  Ishbia is going to rip the org to the seams, somehow increase its value, and then dump it for a big gain?  Beyond that, him and his brother already have a track record of being quality owners of the Suns by spending big and trying to bring down the cost of the fan experience, which is the opposite of how a PE firm would manage things.  Finally, Justin is a huge baseball fan and it’s very clear he’s in it for the long haul, which again goes against PE principles.  Tray’s comment just doesn’t make any sense, but alas he is the same dude claiming Related brainwashed Jerry into going to Springfield to sell the 78 deal so maybe best to ignore his rumblings altogether.

Baltimore?  It's ugly at Chelsea FC for the same Dodgers'  group.

Alright I already am annoyed by this brothers thing I thought Matt was the buyer. I need them to either be like the COEN brothers and only be referred to as one or the other needs to retire and give all money to the other.

Do we think we’ll get a follow up from Greenberg on what happened Friday? That was the deadline right?

I saw him on TV a couple of days ago. He has no idea how many shareholders there are. It could be 30, it could be less than 10, but he did talk to someone who was definitely selling, and someone who was not.
