The last rebuild didn’t even yield a DH 💀

That is almost impossible to do in real life, yet it is 100%.

To be honest, the dream is Ishbia coming in, building a beautiful new park at the 78, and having a couple mega free agents to supplement young core.  I love going to the Rate but it’s time for a new,

Wealthiest individual, Rogers (Blue Jays) and Guggenheim (Dodgers) are worth more as companies/ownership groups.

Then you have Liberty Media too with the Braves...Malone.

$22 billion valuation.

I do not doubt that control is already worked out.  No way Jerry is in charge once the smoke clears.  JR needs to work out his capital gains issue...not hang on to do nothing.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say a tax attorney who worked for the IRS will not have a capital gains issue.

i spoke to someone placed highly in the offices at 35th & Shields. long ago Jon Rauch put him up there on a high shelf and ever since no one has ever been able to reach high enough to bring him back down.

The hope is that Dutch Schultz will soon arrive in Chicago and remedy the situation.

I agree but that has been JR's stance as I understand it.

They don't replace anyone on the board. Once they die, the count goes down. I think they have another 98 year old as well.

The line about letting JR handle the CBA fight, then Ishbia comes in is intriguing.

It is intriguing...but does JR have nearly the sway/power he had in the 90s among the owners?  I am guessing not even close to it!  Does he even have the energy to take that battle on?  We all know he is a union-buster...but I just can't believe the ownership groups in MLB pay much attention to JR these days.

I'm sure the shares go to a beneficiary. The board seat doesn't though?

He was pretty quiet during the last one as I recall.

I am sure that is all outlined in the survivorship section of the agreement.

I thought by your comment of the count going down, you knew something about how it works.

Any structure like that has a survivorship outline that details how those kinds of changes happen.  While they might not replace regular board seats, they have no choice but to replace the head.  I mean in theory they could have left it open, but I really don't see a scenario where they didn't account for the death (or whatever disqualifying events may be in the deal)of the chairman.

For sure. Two more high draft picks and a Robert trade return should help though.

But 2027 is just 2 seasons away and there's not one core piece established yet. You're expecting an awful lot in 2 years just with what theyhave now, some top draft choices and a return from a Robert trade.

Maybe your definition of competitive is not aligned with others here. .500 would seem reasonable during the 2027 season if there is one, but you'd still need a lot of guys to get good fairly fast .

After he voted not to settle the 1993-94 labor dispute and then signed Albert Belle to at the time the largest deal in MLB history (many think he did this to spite the other owners for settling) JR was removed from the committee that advises the commissioner on labor matters. he hasn't had as much influence since then.

Ishbia is not a wait around and wait kind of guy. He has always wanted to own a baseball team. He had every intent on purchasing the Twins but JR approached him with a deal to purchase the Sox and he changed course and took it. He lives and works in Chicago. I predict he will be the new White Sox owner much sooner than later.

That's been my impression too.

That I don't know, although in the story in the Tribune about 10 years ago, they said JR's executor got the control.

The line in the article is that JR basically gets to play the bad guy.
