Jerry and Michael's other team, the Chicago Bulls, are one of the most exciting and one of the best teams in the NBA.  And that was unexpected  after trading their star player.  The Reinsdorfs need to extend some of the same kind of success to their baseball franchise.

This is an interesting perspective. A mediocre team buried near of the bottom of the East with practically zero chance to do anything moving forward against the top clubs.

Oh and because they are owned by the Reinsdorf's hell will freeze over before the go into the luxury tax area as well as somehow be able to attract real superstars which is what you need to win in the league today.

Marketing a toxic waste dump has its challenges.

  • Or the excuses for the front office

  • The bulls, while on a modest 7-3 run out of their last 10, are currently 9 games under .500 and in the play in tournament as the 9th seed.  They are not successful, they are not “good”, and after this

Getz's hands are tied...can only add Tier C/D free agents under $5 million, etc.

May be exciting but not one of the best. I love Bill D especially with his number being raised to the rafters in Providence this season. . Having said that, the Bulls are ranked number 22 out of 30 NBA teams in wins. Luckily they are in the East and may get a shot of making the playoffs as the 9th or 10th team.  I think we will see Billy D back in the college ranks very soon

You are of those that responded to my post who apparently does not watch the Bulls much.  OK, but if you did, you would know that the Bulls are loaded with young talent including Coby White (25 years old),  Matas Guzelis (20 years old) , Josh Giddey (22 years old) and others and are playing tremendous, entertaining, winning basketball.  I sense a desire by some to besmirch the Reinsdorfs in any way, but the current Bulls team should not be one of them. They have won 7 of their last 10 including a real wamping of the Lakers.

Excited is not a word I can use with anyone likely to be on the opening 26 man.

They have no true stars, and Levine wasn’t one either.  It simply doesn’t work in the NBA.  They will continue to stay in NBA Hell (hover around .500) until they luck into a #1 overall draft pick or a star free agent is willing to come to Chicago.

Bulls fans know that they have a different starting line-up now then they had in the first half, and that their younger players have stepped up and are playing some great basketball.  You are not surprised?   OK, I'm not surprised either by another reactive targeted post. Do you ever have anything positive to add to the conversations here or is it just all sarcasm/wise-ass ?  Try to be nice for a change.

I think if the Bulls were going to get a guy like Cooper Flagg, there would be more hope, but they aren’t.  Another part about NBA Hell is that the team’s mediocre record is still too good to get them top draft picks, so the team stays “mired in mediocrity” forever.

“bulls fans” lmao Tray.  There you go, making it that YOU are the one in the know because YOU are the true fan.  Not surprising from the same guy excited about a bad team so he doesn’t have to wait in lines to watch bad baseball

Tray, all you do here is tell people not to get excited about s%*# and that their game experiences are not authentic like yours are.  You are an asshat gatekeeper that brings very little outside of crying about the Sox moving to a better stadium and bootlicking Reinsdorf.  Every couple of weeks you are fighting with someone about the dumbest fucking s%*# like “I DONT BELIEVE YOU LIVE IN BRIDGEPORT” I have plenty of conversations on this website with people who have the capacity to both have a sense of humor and a sense of perspective.  I long ago excluded you from those conversations because you have not much to add.

the bulls are excited for a play in against four other teams that have pulled the plug on the season, and you are acting like that is acceptable and GOOD.  90s bulls fans would laugh in your face

But also, it was obvious they were going to be the worst ever, but also it was super unlucky, and that is nobody's fault.  There, I think I covered it.

You sound angry or maybe too much coffee.  Always try to look on the brighter side. That will illuminate once you open your mind and look for it.

There were a lot of people prior to 2024 that said this team was going to break the record before a game had even been played (I was NOT one of those people, thought they had too much talent to be the worst ever).

If feels like when you look at it today, there's the group that knew it all along, the group that got on board with that about halfway through the year, and then the group that's like "They weren't trying to win, this was always the plan".

Which is funny, because I can't recall a single discussion heading into 2024 from anyone that the White Sox were in fact tanking and had no plans on trying to win games. Which again, makes no fucking sense since they couldn't pick any higher than 10th anyways so what exactly are you trying to tank for?

Too much hot sauce? Or maybe not enough?

Plus the roster moves they made prior to last year tell a different story.

Will Venable is the only interesting addition to this club.  In about 2 years we will be glad to have him IMO.

What the heck happened with that instructor with the Green Beret background who was going to be Director of something or other...?

Haven't heard a peep about how that worked out.   Yes, it's Brian Mahler, see below (it's actually NAVY SEAL, not GB):

Brian Mahler -- a former Harvard lacrosse player who went on to become a Marine and Navy SEAL before earning a law degree from Georgetown -- joined the White Sox as director of leadership, culture and continuing education. Mahler, who came into the organization having never worked in baseball, is at the heart of the overhaul in Chicago's front office, and a committee headed by Mahler is expected to recommend a suite of changes for the organization to institute in the coming years. It's a multiyear project with a focus, sources said, on optimizing resources, scaling processes and connecting departments, and Reinsdorf, who is 88, is backing it after years of wanting to win now.

Look, I'm sure Mahler is a smart and successful person in his own right. But it's so classic White Sox to entrust someone who has never worked in baseball to help fix their extensive laundry list of problems. It is the definition of overthinking and cutting corners at the same time. It is the way of owner Jerry Reinsdorf.  https://ftw.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2024/09/17/white-sox-navy-seal-brian-mahler-no-experience-reaction/75265971007/

Everyone knows this about the NBA, that’s not what he’s saying.

It’s crazy, but it’s starting to look like they did luck into something.  A few somethings.  None of it makes sense.

They are on a hot streak at the end of the season when all of the other teams are sitting their stars getting ready for the playoffs.  It happens.
