GMs can't react emotionally, like fans. They have to be more dispassionate and level-headed.
The Mighty Mite
This offense is worse than last year, Getz has given us another year of AAA baseball.

So, kind of the difference of having a few blowout wins lol

I don't think that's true about the offense. They seem to have a lot more people on base this year, they just can't deliver the big hit. Vaughn, Robert, and Vargas are killing them.
JoshPR
What frustrates me is the shitty ABs. No situational awareness. Just hack wild then get called out on strikes on pitch down the fucking dick of the plate. The wild hacks against a guy who can't throw strikes and missing or fouling back fucking meatballs and cookies screaming to be crushed

Almost as bad as leury hitting cleanup....

JoshPR
In theory and assuming everyone is healthy and on the roster this should be what's happening and in no specific order: Tauchman/Slater RF Robert CF Vargas 3B/DH Vaughn 1B/DH Quiero/Thaiss C Baldwin SS Meidroth 2B Benintendi LF/DH Drury DH/3B Bench: Taylor OF (Defense good to keep around and spot Start. Sosa 2B/1B Jones PR/Of in a major pinch

If Slater comes back June 1, you're talking about Drury, Lee, Tauchman, Benintendi, Rojas, and maybe even Colson Montgomery being ready for roster spots. Slater will be in competition with Taylor for backup OF with Drury, Baldwin, Rojas and Vargas all able to play a corner. 12 minutes ago, Bob Sacamano said: Well that’s how they planned it going into the year so I wouldn’t say it isn’t possible (5 true OFs on the team). It's not impossible, but they're going to have a 2 month roster crunch from June 1-August 1 if they don't start making some trades or cutting some OFs. WhiteSox2023
It should improve. Obviously both young and old players can struggle, but with Meidroth, Quero, and soon Benintendi, Tauchman, and Drury, I can’t imagine it being worse. Also, call up Elko to DH. That should be 4 to 5 better hitters added to the roster after already adding Meidroth, replacing some absolute scrubs that have no business being in the starting lineup for an MLB team. Given the peak was short lived in most of these cases but each hitter got objectively worse when they entered their late 20s. Does this happen to other teams too? Seems odd to me.

I think Anderson just never really had a very good approach at the plate but how does he go from batting title to worthless so quickly? But he hacked at a lot of bad pitches so once you realize he doesn’t have much more patience than Hobby Baez, just stop giving him pitches to hit. Full "strength": C - 2 of Lee/Quero/Thaiss/Narvaez (Lee has options, Thaiss doesn't) 1B - Vaughn IF - Sosa/Baldwin/Meidroth/Vargas/Amaya/Drury/Rojas OF - Benintendi/Robert/Tauchman/Taylor/Slater My guess is they eventually go with 6 IF and 4 OF, Amaya being DFAed, and one of Slater/Taylor being cut/traded. They only way to roster Elko is a straight replacement for Vaughn. Vaughn traditionally hits a *little* better in May, and is full throttle in June. If they see any value in Vaughn, they may wait until July 1 to cut bait. If Vaughn continues to OPS at this sub-.500 rate, maybe they consider Elko end of May...?
