fathom
Welp, Vargas has looked good for a few games now. With Quero and Meidroth not playing, we can consider this a good rebuild game Edited April 26 by fathom

greg775
Tough loss actually. That last at bat, by Robert, was typical of his career. Wave at the slop. A contending team would NOT want Luis Robert IMO. He can't hit, folks.

wegner
How many times have I gone to bed with the Sox in the lead on the West Coast just to wake up to a loss? Unfortunately probably less times than my staying up to watch the loss. I dream of the days where a White Sox winning streak is more than 1 game long. Surely he will turn it around over the next 26 games and, if not, the turn around will surely start in the second half of the season as long as he’s not already on the IL. Does Palacios have to lead off just because that’s where the usual RF Tauchman would be? I realize the majority of the lineup sucks but Palacios should barely be on any MLB team’s roster, much less starting AND leading off. Awful. 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts. Keep leading him off, Grifol… I mean Venable.

Not going to make many prospect lists when you are already that old.

True, but maybe he can go on a Palka type run for a couple years while we have no one else at 1B and the team still sucks overall anyway.

Win-Win??? You know or you should know if you bothered to look it up, that the Sox pitching staff as a whole is 21st in ERA but like 5 teams are decimal points apart of being tied at 4.2 . The bullpen is worse than 4.2 but again nowhere near worst in baseball. Have you seen the Nats and Phillies BP ? Atrocious. Sox are around 24th in ERA and better than that in WHIP. Nothing to brag about of course, but not bad for the amount of money they spent on it . And even though you continually associate Getz with that he doesn't control how much money he gets to spend .He only controls what he does with the amount he is allowed. We have no idea if there is a separate amount for payroll for players and coaches or a lump sum he has to figure out how much goes to players / coaches on the field every day and how much he's spending behind the scenes on research and analysis, modern equipment like the $800K Trajekt Machine and tablets that players use to access game plan and statisical info. My guess is early in his tenure ,meaning his 1st 2 or 3 years that he'll be spending more than he will later on modernizing because there's a lot to catch up on. Whether or not that affects player payroll I have no idea. I think you're a smart guy but your posting style is lazy and you post meatball style because everything is just so terrible you can get away with making blanket statements that indict everything the Sox do. Considering the devastating amount of pitching injuries, with many considered vital to depth for the club this year and the future, they've weathered the storm pretty well. But they can't take too many more hits. They're already playing around with openers which they haven't done much in the past. Who knows maybe that'll be helpful for the future. Some teams have made it work strategically. Be better.
