Choosing to look at a much larger sample size of data to make a guess how a player may perform is wrong? I wish the kid all the success he can get, but I'm not sold on him being a savior of the White Sox after 112 AB's in Charlotte. Let's see him do it in the majors and prove me wrong.

You are probably right but this team has no one else worth playing anyways.

Some of you guys are absolutely delusional. Vaughn is here because Getz is a coward and can't tell his boss he wasted 5.85 million. He has no trade value.

  • He is?? News to me

He definitely deserved the promotion.

He's not going to be a savior.  You hope he provides replacement value, or slightly above, which in this situation would be a huge positive.  Jesus Christ himself couldn't save this team.

I also don't like the use of hyperbole towards my opinion to make your point. I have never used the word savior nor has anyone else to my knowledge.

He deserved a shot with his current stats. That's it.  You can say what you want if you think labeling a prospect as he is what he is then that's up to you after a mere 2 full and small parts of 2 other seasons . It's not like his plate discipline was terrible in your larger sample size. His career OBP is .348

I understand the reluctance to support a 26 yr old 10th round pick because chances are that kind of prospect succeeding is the exception rather than the rule. Chances are you'll be right if that's important to you. My fandom is about allowing prospects to develop and supporting them when they deserve a shot on the big club that's been filled up with AAAA type failures getting shot after shot and hoping they create a bit of excitement on a team with very bad offensive numbers .

I know your not the only one who needs him to prove it. That's fine . He's been treated as organization filler by those who do Future Sox too. It goes with the territory when you start your professional career at 23 after being a 10th round pick.

I've... literally never said he doesn't deserve a shot (or want him to fail). How you are coming to that conclusion by me having low expectations because his profile historically doesn't breed success is beyond me.

Oh, for f***'s sake.

Only the pope can save this team. The fans in papal outfits are a little creepy though. Venable needs to confer with his coaches more .

This. He’d earned his shot and we should all want him to do well, but we should have low expectations. Guy likely isn’t a long term answer but maybe we could have some fun seasons from him at a time when we’re going to suck anyway.

We'll see how long he stays up. Would be sweet if he could hit a 3 run bomb early.

First save and pretty sure first two run victory of the season...what did Earl Weaver say about three run homers again?

Cam’s first save according to the box score. 🤔

This season...for the whole team, unless Eisert had one.

He already had some for the Red Sox last season as a 32 year old rookie, though.

Teams saves .Brandon Eisert also has one.

Maton loves his Trajekt machine in Charlotte...

He just knows no other team wants him.  What a roster full of crap.

He doesn't have enough service time to elect free agency, right? Or is that for when a guy is optioned? I forget.

I thought that a player can only be outrighted once, then he can elect free agency. Maybe he was released the first time, and re-signed as a minor league FA.

I mean, he hasn't been good. I would have optioned AV, but don't feel this is worth too much hand wringing. You def can't carry 3 catchers and 2 1B so if you're not optioning Elko, it was going to be Quero when Lees rehab is up in a few days anyway.

Simply need to trade Thaiss and let either Teel or Quero play the rest of the time...

I think Sox really like Thaiss. But yah, you have to trade him or Lee next couple months.
