Must be nice to have your #9 hitter batting .295 and drive in seven runs.

The Sox bullpen ERA's are astronomical for the three guys they used today. Woof!

Should be bottom 3 after today...feels worse.

This FG writer deserves a reward for accuracy.

"When I try to picture “Justin Anderson” in my mind’s eye, I draw a blank. I do not think I know this Justin Anderson, who went a half-decade without appearing in the major leagues. When he resurfaced last season, he was basically the same pitcher who had kicked around Triple-A for the last five years. Sure, he was throwing his fastball a tick harder, and he added a cutter that he occasionally threw to lefties, but the basic structure was the same: An excellent slider he throws roughly half the time, and almost no command to speak of. The heavy slider reliance means he’s effectively a ROOGY, unable to reliably retire left-handed hitters.

In the intervening weeks, Mike Clevinger, who is projected for a 4.67 FIP and -0.2 WAR, moved into the presumptive closer position. The less said about Mike Clevinger, the better.

Penn Murfee’s sweeper is a beauty. Fraser Ellard throws hard from the left side and gets pretty nice depth on his slider. Tyler Gilbert can limit hard contact against lefties. James Karinchak is around, for some reason. There are some bright spots, namely Shane Smith if he doesn’t crack the rotation. But this is quite clearly the worst bullpen in baseball."

Booser also throws hard and provides a great human interest story for perseverance...but not always well.

Jordan Leasure the most polarizing at the current moment.

Along with having FOUR lefties...a seemingly excessive amount by at least one or two.

Vasil Rule 5 clearly the most effective on paper at least.

At least we succeeded in making Jake Meyers the mlb story of the weekend so far...so there's that.

Barely 20000+ for a sunny but windy early May 50 degree Dick Allen bobblehead giveaway day?

Did they cut the number given away to 1000 instead of 5-10,000???

Plenty of bobbles, but only 1000 cigarette add ons.

"Over 3 1/2 years ago, Astros center fielder Jake Meyers tore his left labrum while scaling the Rate Field wall in an ill-fated attempt to rob Gavin Sheets of a home run in Game 4 of the ALDS, sidelining him not only for Houston's playoff run but also the first three months of the following season.

On Saturday, Meyers exacted his long-awaited, brutal revenge. Houston's No. 9 hitter smacked two homers to left, a game-tying two-run triple past Brooks Baldwin making his first start in center, and a wholly unnecessary RBI double off Jared Shuster in the eighth to set a career-high with seven runs driven in."

I was shocked at how few people were there. Wasn’t even half full to the naked eye.

Dodgers giving 40,000 Vin Scully bobbleheads out next week.

More than GRate seating capacity.

It seemed almost obvious (except perhaps to the coaching staff) that Martin could not find a pitch to get Jake Meyers out in the 4th.  At that point you intentionally/unintentionally walk him or hit him with a fastball after which the Manager takes a slow walk to the mound to get someone warming up.  Of course, who might that be? Murf?

Sox need pitching help badly.

But you don't spend on a bullpen when you're actively trying to lose 100 games or more.

So was Alonso the best free-agent signing of the offseason? We posed that question to 20 executives, and while Alonso was named by three of them, two players received more votes:

 Alex Bregman (8 votes) 3B

 Nick Pivetta (4 votes) SP

 Pete Alonso (3 votes) 1B

 Carson Kelly (1 vote) C

 Jorge Polanco (1 vote) 3B/2B

It almost seemed like Jake Meyers knew what pitches were called for .... oh wait, that would never happen with the 'Stros.

Just walk that sob today, or brush him back. He seems to be on everything.
