WestEddy
There was an open 40-man spot, so no corresponding move is needed there. However, he's out of options, so I'm guessing he bounces Amaya. The Chicago White Sox have claimed infielder Vinny Capra off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers. — Chicago White Sox (@whitesox) May 15, 2025
T R U
Who would have thought they would replace Amaya with someone worse, if that's what they do of course.
TheFutureIsNear
I hope someone is keeping a spreadsheet of all of these names that have come and gone from the roster in the last few years (and likely next few). It’s going to be long list and no one will remember 75% of them in 5 years

Maybe Fuller or the bench coach knows or noticed something about his swing that can be corrected. Otherwise, I would think they have shortstop covered between Meidroth, Baldwin, Sosa, Rojas and Tristan Gray in AAA.

Getz loves shitty utility guys, much like himself as a player. 1
Jake
Seems like the most likely explanation here is Capra is a more prototypical bench player than Amaya: plays multiple positions (including a few reps in the OF) and is a fast runner. But I assume Amaya could play 2B/3B, we just don't ask him to since he's the best SS defender on the team. But he's not a great runner. Move probably doesn't matter much either way. Capra had one great year in AA following the COVID season but otherwise hasn't shown much upside.

I doubt he’s figuring anything out at this stage in his career.

I just don't get why we need more utility guys like Baldwin Gray Lipcius Maton Workman, and now this guy. It's almost working backwards in roster contruction, concentrating on the last 2-3 spots on the roster and backend of the bullpen. You might get SOME marginal improvement.

GreenSox
This has that "Shane" McKinven, feel; he's built up a ton of equity, there's nothing to lose, so I'm good with it.

They could, and then just let Baldwin play CF the back half of the year if Robert is gone. Doesn't matter at that point.
