Vegas’ design is modeled after the Sydney Opera House. Tampa’s design has a fixed, transparent roof that I believe is the first of its kind in all of professional baseball. The Royals aren’t as innovative, as they’re mostly just remaking Kauffman, but I can respect the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” attitude.Though a Comiskey-esque design (like the one on the formerly leaked Amtrak renders) would be an instant classic, maybe the Sox will join the former two in the new era of stadium designs.

It's not like they'd be trying to manufacture a retro look out of whole cloth that could come off as inauthentic. That's not to say it would be a Comiskey clone, including things that absolutely would not work today, of course. I suppose with the Royals, almost their entire history has been in Kauffman (all but their first 4 seasons), so maybe that's why they seem to be going with a similar look for their proposed new stadium. That being said, hopefully Amtrak and Canal Edge are working on addressing neighborhood concerns and ways to mitigate the impact of moving the maintenance yard to Bridgeport if they don't want to see their project delayed or shot down.

An Orlando team would cannibalize the Rays TV market, too. Edited August 29Aug 29 by 77 Hitmen
August 30Aug 30 A couple of the local Chicago TV stations have showed how the citizens of Bridgeport and the Alderman are gathering to oppose the proposed Amtrak railyard in Bridgeport. If the railyard is not moved how would that affect the new baseball stadium in the South Loop? I can't believe the city would oppose the new railyard in Bridgeport. We'll have to wait and see how this plays out.

Ishbia’s whole plan hinges on relocating Amtrak’s facilities and rolling stock.

They heartily laughed when I asked if any of them or their kids would ever consider taking a train to anywhere downtown, especially at night. Hey, I won't be around to see what thet fellow wants to build but as I told my friends, I hate to see some guy from Detroit do what he proposes doing. It's pretty sad, but oh well.

This is still Chicago.Anything is possible, but I think there's too much involved here for the residents to be able to totally kill this project. It's not simply moving the Amtrak facility to make way for a new stadium. Amtrak has already said they need to move their facility to have more room to modernize their operations and there's the matter of this potentially killing the Northwestern medical research campus proposal if Amtrak's move is stopped. Part of the federal money is going to much-needed repairs on viaducts in the area, too. If anything, neighborhood and Ald. Lee's opposition could slow things down significantly. If Amtrak and Canal Edge want to head off that possibility, they'd be wise put some effort into coming up with ways to mitigate noise, light, air pollution impacts on the nearby residential areas. Those type of things should be feasible and not uncommon when addressing local concerns.
