I mean the obvious reason is AV is gone, but Vargas looked really good at 3B earlier in the year and is sooo much more valuable to the future of the org as a 3B. Vargas absolutely sucks fielding 3rd. He was leading the majors in errors at that position before they moved him. He couldn't even make the throw consistently. If Sosa is sticking around, and he's making the case, I get it. Unless Elko can pull the strikeout rates way, way down, they don't have a first baseman. That being said, I figured they'd like up the infield like Colson-Meidroth-Sosa-Vargas, especially since Bryan Ramos is suffering from the "got called up to Chicago early, failed, and can no longer hit in Charlotte" phenomenon. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
