I sure would like the Sox to acquire some extra draft picks for 2026. Would love the flexibility and bonus pool money that allows.

When are the 2026 picks known enough to be available to be traded?

Only the competitive balance picks can be traded. So sometime after the world series I suppose? Around draft lottery time?

Can they be a PTBNL type of a thing at this year's deadline?

And why is this a red flag?  Just because they know him?

I said I liked/loved the pick.  I never said a red flag.  I can understand skepticism.  This is a franchise, under Jerry, that drafts daughters and son's and promotes within.  You're good with Getz because they know him?

I didn't say anything good or bad about it, I am just trying to understand what you were saying about it.

Pick Rank FV Name Pos. Age School Strengths
10 12 45+ Billy Carlson SS 19.0 Corona HS (CA) Arm, Defense, Power Proj.
44 37 40+ Jaden Fauske C/1B/OF 18.6 Nazareth Academy (IL) Bat-to-Ball Skills
76 114 40 Kyle Lodise SS 21.7 Georgia Tech SS Range & Actions

Carlson can really play defense and has an incredible arm, and his bat-to-ball performance on the showcase circuit was strong. His swing gives some scouts pause because of its length. Though not especially toolsy, Fauske was seen as one of the more polished high school hitters in the class. Both were picked right around where I ranked them. Lodise I see as more of a low-ceiling utility guy. I don’t know if Fauske will sign for an over-slot amount or not. If that’s the deal, then perhaps they reached a bit for Lodise to fit Fauske’s bonus into their pool

Seems like an interesting 11th rounder. Any prep here is really nice.

Yea I'll take a athletic multisport athlete leader of a team like that any day at that spot. 98% of the time he never puts on the weight or skills needed but a couple times out of a hundred he turns into a good player imo.

To be fair, Mark Buehrle is one of the craziest draft picks of all-time and the key to his pitching wasn't his stuff, it was the fact that he's one of the best defensive pitchers of all-time and pitched stupid fast.

True, but my point was you never know. You shouldn't discard anybody. Another Example was Mike Piazza

Your point was apt in the pre draft caps days.  Today it does not work like that.  It is quite literally impossible to take the best possible player with each pick, or you will be over the draft caps and forfeit draft picks in future drafts.  They days where you can spend whatever you want are over.  if you don't have sacrifice picks you don't get overslot deals either.

Players aren't allowed to "train" like Piazza did anymore.

Late to the party but I think Shelton is going to move through the system quick giving hitterish vibes like Antonnacci. Boughton looks really athletic. Was a state champion long jumper, runs 6.4 60 with plus arm. Bat is in question but I can see Sox profiling him in CF.
