I know people have hopeful visions of Justin Crawford from the Phillies for Robert, but why wouldn’t they just call up Crawford instead?

But the again, I guess it is Trader Dombrowski over there…

I don’t believe Crawford is attainable for Robert even if I wish it, but teams going for a championship don’t typically want to rely on a rookie with warts to fill their main hole.

Lol.

Now that we don't need a SS (Colson looks like he can hold down the fort for a couple years until Carlson is here) and since Arroyo is still struggling in AA, I would take Chase Petty from CIN for Robert since the latter is heating up.

He’s still young, but Petty looked just awful when he got promoted

We'd be buying low...which makes it more realistic since Robert's value is also lower.

Wasn't the FO rumored to be interested in Petty previously?

Considering Schultz and Hagen may require more refinement in the minors and Taylor is now in the pen, we may need another SP.

Since finding pitchers is the one thing the Sox seem to be good at, I really hope they focus on positional prospects as the return for the majority of players they deal.

Getz not having any flippable relievers of real value is frustrating

And even if they do want a starter, they may have a bad taste in their mouth about Houser considering how he pitched for them last year.

Go crazy…

Robert, Martin, Sosa, and Wilson

Chicago White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. was not in the lineup for the second time in three games on Friday night due to a tight groin, but the expectation that he will be traded (Philadelphia? San Diego?) is rising.

Boston Red Sox infielder Romy Gonzalez, who played for the White Sox from 2021 to 2023, believes a change will do his former teammate good.

“I feel like when he gets traded, he’s going to just take off,” Gonzalez said.

Perhaps the more intriguing development with the White Sox is that teams are “all over” them about rookie right-hander Grant Taylor, according to a club source.

Taylor, the team’s second-round pick out of LSU in 2023, has struck out 23 and walked six in 18 1/3 innings. His fastball averages 99 mph, putting him in the top 2 percent of the league.

The White Sox, the source said, are uncomfortable even talking about Taylor. He has stabilized their bullpen, allowing other relievers to settle into suitable roles. And he could be a starter in the future.

I know this will be an unpopular take, but if the Sox think Taylor's a RP long-term, you absolutely need to entertain trading him, especially if you get a legitimate bat in return. Especially if his mechanics are going to keep him out of the rotation.

You 100% consider trading Taylor if you don’t feel he can stick as a SP.  My only issue is I think he will gain significant value with an actual track record.

I think any case Getz trades Taylor he is going over market value. To me his floor is ~Mason Miller. If he can start, his ceiling could be Crochet.

I am on record as saying I don’t want Crawford. Pretty much for anything. I mean, Altavilla or something, but for Taylor?! Crawford cannot pull the ball. He cannot hit balls in the air. He’s fast, but he’s not Chandler Simpson. And there’s doubt about whether he sticks in center. There’s real Juan Pierre in left field vibes here. I would avoid.

We won’t even get Crawford for Luis Robert most likely,l. He was offered though, I’d take him for Luis.

I understand the risks with Crawford, but I’d still easily roll the dice on him for Robert.  He is 21.5 years old and has plenty of time to grow & adjust.  I also think you are greatly underselling his physical skills.  He’s a legit 70 grade runner, which is incredibly fast.  He has far more raw power than Juan Pierre ever had.  The tools are there to be a special player even if they haven’t materialized in the way we’d like to see yet.  Candidly speaking, if he was hitting more line drives and running better routes, he’d be one of the top prospects in the game and completely off limits.  I don’t think the Phillies would give him up for Robert, but that would be a HR trade for us right now.  I would not trade Taylor for him though…would need something with a higher degree of confidence to move him right now.
