Like 3-4 days leading up to the Trade Deadline where GMs can meet and talk trades.
caulfield12
Padres/Preller looking to acquire A's closer and turn him into a starter? or bluffing as he deals Suarez/Cease? But according to The Athletic report, “indications” are that Preller “is willing to at least discuss” such names as shortstop Leo De Vries (the third-ranked prospect in all of baseball per MLB Pipeline) and catcher Ethan Salas (the club’s No. 2 prospect and No. 20 overall). To add to the intrigue, the Padres might consider converting Miller back into a starting pitcher (the right-hander made six starts for the A’s back in 2023). San Diego does have a history of converting relievers into starters, doing so recently with Michael King, Stephen Kolek and Seth Lugo...along with Nick Martinez. mlb.com Edited July 31 by caulfield12

Squirmin' for Yermin
Anyone know if Kwan is indeed on the block? I haven't seen any stars being traded or rumored to be this deadline (apart from the bullpen).

It's their biggest hole. Terrible LF play, and need a top of the lineup bat with Betts reaaaaaaling
