This 2024 draft man 😫

So roughly a year after the 2024 draft we have:

- the pick before the white Sox hitting a 6-6 4 HR game in the majors and dominating (Kurtz)

- the pick after the white Sox having already made his major league debut (albeit scuffling)

- the pick after that with a 1.300 OPS in AAA already

- Konnor Griffin is the second overall prospect in baseball after an insane half year

- 14th overall pick Cam Smith already with 2 WAR and positive offense in the majors

Meanwhile our fast moving pitching prospect is unlikely to match his pitching load from last year and had a second TJS scare.

Funny that the two most hapless orgs (us and rox) who desperately needed mlb offensive help were dropped into one of the best immediate impact drafts I can remember and got two slow starters (Condon injured)

If Getz really did make the call on Smith, I'm never gonna be happy unless he turns into a bonafide #1.

This isn't Jacob Gonzalez bad, but it looks like an early whiff.

It’s worse just because what was around. And last year felt like a bad draft because of the weirdness of the profiles.

Hard not to look at Kurtz, who was a 1B drafted 4th overall, and not compare him to Vaughn, who was drafted 3rd overall in 2019. All the talk was "You don't draft a 1B that high unless you know the bat is going to really play at an ML level" and you just see the differences in results by the organizations. The A's historically draft and develop very well....and then there is the White Sox.

I’ll admit I wouldn’t have drafted Kurtz but I  would say if I was gonna draft a first baseman top 10 I’d like them to be left handed and 6’4 + not right handed, 6’0” and bald.

Don’t forget Wetherholt is having a huge year in the minors as well

He’s the pick after the pick after line
