Hoyer is getting played by the market right now. Should have made some moves days/weeks ago.

Chisoxfn
That seems like a really low return unless the prospect rankings are way off and those guys all made major moves up the list.
caulfield12
“The deal, which is pending medical review, will send first baseman Tyler Locklear and right-handers Juan Burgos and Hunter Cranton to the Diamondbacks, who already had dealt first baseman Josh Naylor to Seattle less than a week earlier. Suárez, 34, ranks fifth in Major League Baseball with 36 home runs and rejoins a Mariners team with which he spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons.” Basically a 1B/DH and two relievers, albeit one that throws 98-100 like Taylor Just so hard to get premium SS/CF talent back

The 24-year-old has done nothing but hit in the minor leagues, posting an .894 OPS over nearly 1,500 minor league plate appearances, including a .316/.401/.542 line with 19 home runs and 82 RBIs at Triple A this season.” That’s the kind of 1B the Sox need, compared to Vargas/Sosa…

Small sample size but Matt Shaw has over a 1.000 OPS post All-Star break. I think they are sticking with him. Maybe they acquire a lesser bat as insurance. Timmy U
Bad timing for Sox, but it’ll give Shane Smith another shot at hitting him.

Squirmin' for Yermin
Well that's a depressing return. Vientos for Robert now seems like way too much lol

Locklear and a couple pitchers wouldn’t be an awful return for Robert. A #9 ranked prospect in a very strong farm system. He has really turned it on this year with the bat. Negatives are that’s he isn’t a lefty bat and he’s already turning 25 in November but the Sox could sure use a 1B with power. Locklear also has one more year of control than Vientos — FA in 2031 rather than 2030. He would more than likely be starting at 1B for the Sox immediately. Locklear has been red hot in AAA, but honestly this one feels like AZ doing Seattle a solid.
T R U
Suarez is a 34 year old rental player, I think the return is fine. 1
