This is like the third moronic thread this year started after the team played well for a stretch and the Sox almost immediately went into a tailspin after each one.

YUP and I am convinced the threads cursed the team.

No, that’s asking a lot, if they get to 70 wins it would be damn good and if team continues to improve JR has to spend some money were they can compete for a WC next year.

  • I’m shocked that people are actually monitoring the win/loss record for a rebuilding team, it’s irrelevant. The Sox winning their way out of the top 3 of the draft would be catastrophic.

  • Right...they went from 41 wins to maybe 60. If that's moving things "quite a bit" I envy your definition. Is it progress? of course. But it's pretty hard NOT to be better than having the wor

Could they have another double-digit losing streak in them?

Ryan Noda quotes...about time with A's, Sox mentioned as well

Too many bad owners in MLB.  If we Sox fans think we have it bad with Jerry, I can't imagine being a Pirates fan since their terrible team owner is only in his early 60s and could be around for another quarter century or more.

And it's hard for me to feel sorry for Manfred crying about how bad it is for the owners when I read this:

During one of the Pirates’ “sell” chants this season, the team broadcast cut the crowd noise until the chanting ceased. And the A’s “reverse boycott” game has been scrubbed from MLB.TV’s June 2023 archives.

Quero 3 for last 21

Montgomery 2 for last 16

Teel 2 for last 19

^If this keeps up combined with the starting rotation falling apart, it’s certainly possible

Ah the classics.  I love a good WTAF thread.

Still on pace for 103 losses. Gonna have to get hot to avoid another 100 loss season.

Have lost eight of the last 10.

That is a pace for 33 wins!

Just before the last 10 games I was told Sox have a good shot of finishing their remaining games .500 because this was a new team. Uh huh

Look, things got out of hand.  People get a whiff of competence and LOSE THEIR MINDS

They can go 37-3 from here on out to end the year at .500!

Now, I am Mr. Over-Optimistic on this board, and get grief for it now and then, but even I have to say that the idea Sox can win 81 games this year is rather silly. I think winning 70 games is realistically out of reach.

I would say that making 63, my preseason prediction and goal, is slightly, slightly less likely than 50/ 50. If they can stay hot for a couple more weeks, than winning 63 becomes probable and maybe they can even reach 65 or so wins.

Would winning 24 or more games over last year, an over 50% increase in wins, would that be enough for Lipman to consider that the White Sox have moved things forward "quite a bit"?

Probably not.

19 games would be a huge improvement. I had 35 predicted. Loss of confidence.

It's not looking good for .500.

Well, are we going by their record since May 1st or their record after the All-Star break?  Fun with numbers…

That's called selective posturing by some. 😉
