Oh yes, The cloud! How could we forget. That must have added at least 10 wins.

What's ridiculous is you thinking org structures are what wins in professional sports. Garbage in is garbage out in the data world, and the Sox have a ton of garbage going in.

While I don't bow at the gospel of public rankings, it's really all we have to go off of as it relates to league perspectives. The Sox farm system got worse and it had nothing to do with graduations, and their most valuable pieces lost a lot of shine. You can put your fingers and your ears and scream as to not hear the truth, but if the farm and development are the secret to the Sox success it appears they're heading in the wrong direction, and if that's what we're hanging Getz success on then IDK what to tell you.

Konnor Griffin in the Sox system and then a 1-1/2/3 draft pick in 2026 dramatically changes the narrative there.

That said, Braden and Bonemer were the only position players that seemed to make big-time progress.

And that's still only a #8-10 ranked system probably...just not enough high quality pitching depth to confidently fill 2-3 spots in the rotation if Taylor's permanently a reliever.

Sam Antonacci played across 3 levels in his season and a half in our system. He out-OPSed Braden Montgomery at AA at the same age. Jeral Perez had a season, also.

And what are his plus tools?

This is what you stated: "That said, Braden and Bonemer were the only position players that seemed to make big-time progress."

Antonacci - hit tool. Perez seems to have tapped into some game power.

Quero was worth 1.2 bWAR. Baseball Prospectus had Quero near the bottom in catching defense with an overall -9.1 runs saved. Teel ranked for favorably, with 1.2 runs saved. They like his framing. Quero gets dinged mostly for his framing.

Quero passes the eye test, advanced metrics be darned. ... Ever notice how baseball announcers rarely obsess on metrics? Crazy how that segment dominates the thinking of a lot of fans and front office types. Give me an Ozzie any day who doesn't care about WAR and other metrics. Ozz knows a hitter when he sees one and knows a bust when he sees one.

Ozzie couldn’t look in the mirror and truthfully say he identified a good hitter.  And just look back at some of his favorite players and how terrible they were at hitting, yet he kept sticking them in the lineup.  Ozzie was Darrin Erstad’s biggest fan in 2007 and kept batting him lead off.  🤮

And that’s why I’m down on Braden.  Power was underwhelming

Quero has minimal power and doesn’t seem to have a frame to add a lot of strength.  Given that he’s struggled mightily last few years against RHP, his ceiling is way lower than most seem to think IMO.

At the big league level...we shall see.

We only have 5-6 guys at his spot unless they move him to corner OF.

26 wins in the first 81 (52 win pace)

35 wins in the second 81 (70 win pace)

After Montgomery arrived and started to catch fire it felt like a different team.

I agree with all those who said it’s a D at best when looking at the whole season, but I see this season as a tale of two halves. An F for the first half and a C for the second.

Would Sox have gotten more by trading Crochet 2 months into the season? Would we have gotten Roman Anthony instead? It would be fair to grade Getz based on how Crochet trade has ended up.

Hey that’s a poster name I haven’t seen in a minute

The word at the time was that Anthony was untouchable.  But seeing what Crochet is doing now, he shouldn’t have been so maybe Getz didn’t push hard enough?  Who knows…

Not that Teel and Braden were a bad return, but no one should be off limits for a young bonafide ace.

Have heard this year that Teel and Meidroth alone make that a winning trade for the Sox...

Crochet could have had the best 2 months for any pitcher in baseball history and it wouldn't have been able to fetch Roman Anthony. Fair or not, most GMs won't trade prospects of that caliber for anyone with less than 2 years of team control remaining.

He was (going to be) on a cheaper contract at least for those final two arb years in 2025-26...before Red Sox extension.

That deal would have another $75-125 million on it if signed today.

Which has a LOT of value to Boston in light of clearing the Devers deal from the books...filling out the remainder of the roster for Breslow.

Good to have the great fathom respond to one of my posts.

I gave him a C, how do you build a team working for an owner who would make Ebeneezer Scrooge proud.

I also gave him a C, optimistically looking at the young talent this team has. I also can’t fault Getz if he truly doesn’t have money to spend and would point fingers to JR. The cynic in me could also give them a D for the overall record.

That is fair, breaking it down into a first half and second half.

I gave Getz a higher grade because he was stuck with Pedro Girfol in 2024 and the remnants of a cancer clubhouse/organization that still lingered.  Nobody has brought up that the Sox were about as low as you could get with ex-players, the media, and fans. In 2023 Kenyan Middleton got traded mid-season to the Yankees and he opened up how bad things were with the Sox. You guys know all this, but things were so bad it wasn't an easy fix. I give credit to Getz for bringing in Venable, who the players have taken to. All of that "clubhouse" cancer is in the rear-view mirror, there is a new vibe with the youth movement, and they are responding. If you want to point out things you don't like about Veneable's managing, that is fair also.
