Ummm...yes, if we're the quasi Titanic, except much more low profile.

I would argue that being an organization with the capability to draft, develop and sign all stars would have been the turnaround we are looking for. In light of our inherent handicaps and hardships, we hopefully make plan B a relative success as much we can.

Sure, but your GM has to be right pretty much a majority of the time then.

Not the let's say 25-30% success level Hahn and now Getz seem/ed to be operating at in trades signings drafts.

I know there is always the adage that one might get blown away by an offer and you have to take it; however, please don’t trade either one as the Sox are set at this position.

The alternative is trade where they aren't set which wouldn't fetch much. The question becomes is thin set in two positions better than thick set in one?

I'm addition to the we can't actually win a trade very often.

I'd rather have someone who can play 90% of the time (position player) than Quero, a catcher who can only play 50% of the time. His bat isn't good enough to be a DH, and I prefer Teel by quite a bit.

Quero is 2 years younger than Teel. He's gonna hit. I'd be more concerned about his back than anything else.

Doesn't make any sense to trade Teel now absent a godfather offer.  The whole point of the rebuild is to find and develop guys like Teel.

After you find and develop you have to use them to your advantage. Sometimes it's play them, sometimes it's trade them. It seems premature to trade him, but it's literally the only position that is above average today.

What is Querro's value?  A recent top 100 prospect who generated 1.2 bwar when called up.  22yo switch-hitter at premium position.  Yeah he is slow, so are almost all catchers.  The fact he didn't bomb when called up I would think adds to his value so I would be holding out for a similar young player with some success in the outfield or if getting prospects a top 100 plus more?

I think everyone is in agreement on that. It’s not trading him just to trade him.

Teel can hit and can play outfield.  He's obviously the most valuable.

Don't trade any, unless it's for a premium (and a big premium for Teel).

Absolutely have to keep both.  The catcher position is prone to injuries, they can’t afford to trade one of these catchers, only to see the other one get hurt.

this..........it could be a Grandal/Collins scenario.....

Teel played no games in the outfield in the minors and one game in LF in the majors.  Do we really know he can play outfield?

What if it were for some one like James Wood. Then you still have Quero and Lee with outfield of Wood, Robert and Montgomery by August hopefully. To me Quero seemed to have better skills behind the plate anyway, although not sure what the numbers say.

They're (Nats) not going to trade Wood for Quero....that's just pure fantasy.

He's expected to be the centerpiece of their offense. Probably they trade Gore and attempt to add to their offense.

IMO they'd be lucky to get Abrams back, but that doesn't fit the Sox timeline.

I think a more realistic option, depending how FA shakes out, is Quero for Jasson Dominguez. Wells is an OK catcher but they have no depth there and Quero will almost certainly be the better hitter. Also no depth behind oft-injured Stanton at DH.  If the Yankees land Tucker or keep Bellinger, Dominguez (and/or Spencer Jones) have no where to play. Quero may end up the better player, but I’d rather have a guy who plays every day at a position of weakness. Lee is a fine backup.

Now it seems like Getz really did pick the Red Sox' pockets, holding out for the guy (Teel) they didn't want to trade. Good on him.

I mean he traded away arguably the best non Skubal or Skenes pitcher in MLB, he got fair value. Got to give to Getz.

Crochet just finished top 10 in the MLB in WAR.  Roman Anthony probably should have been attainable.

You expected the number one prospect in baseball for two years of Crochet?

They don't want Booser back, too?

Maybe we can get back Romy Gonzalez while the Sox are at it.

I was talking about Teel

They wouldn't have traded for Crochet without knowing they had a very good shot at extending him.

Same principle with any team acquiring Skubal for JUST one season.

Teel isn't enough, either.

Still project Wood as a Top 25-30 player in baseball and 30/30 or even possibly 40/40 guy with loads of untapped potential based on his background.

You might be able to get Abrams for Teel, though.

Im not sure but fWAR seems to put a lot of emphasis on framing . I have no idea if framing stats is Fangraphs baby but it's over rated. If hes throwing out base stealers and picking guys off base and blocking balls in the dirt, and calling a good game those all equally important to stealing strike calls for your pitchers on the rarer than you might think occasions the umps are influenced by guys moving their gloves into the strike zone .

So shouldn't bWAR correct for that overemphasis on framing then?
