"I'm not paying for this!  You said you were going to fix my car!  All you did was make it work like it did previously!"

  • If it were me, I’d walk down to Acuna and demand he bat switch hitter all season.

Nope, kid is fucking cooked.  If you ain’t fixed before your first full minor league season as a prep pick then it’s officially game over man.

Headed out of Phoenix / Tempe today. A billion cubs fans down here. Didn't get to any games, it's been way too hot already, I'm a bit surprised they didn't cancel any yesterday, as it was pretty much 100+ from 11am to 6pm.

And he still has the opportunity. Guys get injured, slump, or whatnot. He's at AAA with an organization who seems committed to investing in his former prospect.

Are we sure he is going to AAA or does he have an opt out?

Tauchman already injured. Shocker…

Wish they could have found a spot for him, he had a great spring.

I'm guessing he'll go to Charlotte with one of the subsequent opt-out dates.

Jhonkensy Noel hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth Saturday in the Orioles’ 10-8 win over the Phillies.

It’s still disappointing no non-contender claimed Noel off waivers when the Orioles managed to sneak him through in January. He’s gone 8-for-21 with two homers this spring, and while he’ll never completely overcome his contact issues, he’s still just 24 and more interesting than some of the guys getting jobs as fourth and fifth outfielders.

As teams try sneaking guys through waivers over the next few days, might be worth noting that the Sox have an open 40 spot

Zach Root 8K in 3 innings. Dodgers outscout everyone again.

I wish we would have claimed him just so we could have made Jobu memes and s%*# like that.

Do they need it with guys like Baldwin and Teel needing IL spots and replacements?

Not sure what you mean. If an interesting flyer or depth piece pops up on waivers, they can put in a claim regardless of Baldwin and Teel. Those guys (and their immediate replacements) are already on the 40.

Doesn't need to be someone expected to play in April, it can be another Romo who they nab and stash in Charlotte.

And they also have Thorpe and Berroa's spots. They can still be put on the 60-day IL in case they're at 40 and still want to add. Teel does not sound like a candidate for the 60-day, and I have no idea where Baldwin is.

I'm busting with excitement

Sox attendance at Cameltoe this year was fairly pathetic. A few bodies in the OF but not many in the seats. Nice work Jerry!

I asked two people in Sox hats if they were fans. Nope, just liked the hat. One of them even told me the team sucks and I should be embarrassed to be a fan in so many words. I wasn't going to argue.

Not really a surprise once camp was down to 13 healthy pitchers, but it's official now.

Hope Paez can bring a back to back Rule 5 championship win to Chicago

Seems zero chance Baldwin doesn't start the season on the 15 day IL, maybe they can back date it a bit. Not much out there on the injury just that he has elbow inflammation. I'd assume it's in his throwing arm or he'd probably be trying to play through it. Bummer. I guess as a position player he could try and play through a partially torn UCL but let's hope it's not that.

Sun-Times story last week said he can't throw because of it. Don't know how it impacts his hitting.

Elbow holds very little force hitting compared to throwing. Plenty of position players play through substantial elbow pain at every level. That said, based on what that report you relayed says -- not great, Lip.
