I'm not convinced just yet. He couldn't field 3rd previously. Made some of the harder plays but often botched the easy ones. He was better at first, but Murakami is obviously a better choice there.

IMO a significant storyline of 2025 was Vargas showing that he was good enough with the glove to play 3B in MLB. Where exactly he'd be on the spectrum from below average to above average, not so clear. But definitely good enough if he had reasonable offense.

Used to do this with just the lefty specialists. Now they're going after Toronto's RH hitters like Guerrero Okamoto etc.

  • Don't understand why the guy who lead the team in homers and RBIs last year doesn't play ...

Benintendi is such a buzzkill

One of Burke's best outings since early last year?

The Sox have records like some of Mack’s teams. Connie did tanking before tanking was cool.

Yeah, he managed some really poor teams. See my edit. But he is considered one of the greatest managers ever, including a great rebuilder of teams. His 3731 wins is the record, almost 850 more than any other manager (La Russa). But yes, he did manage for 50 years.

Yeah great manager. Also, the owner was never gonna fire him.

What the hell is that jacket our boy has on?

Thought his last start of the season last year was good. 10 Ks, 1 BB, 1 ER on 80 pitches, only 4.1 IP. But his first start of the season last year was probably his best.

1 walk in 10 IP so far this season is definitely nice to see. If he can keep the FB at ~96, he's really dangerous.

just swing away, all his hits are swinging bunts anyway

Acuna just a miserable player

Again, not impressed by Acuna.

aw man, you gotta challenge that

Peters is annoying to me

Talk about screwing up your inning. There's the sox we know

Peters has to go, brings nothing to the table but errors and bad base running

Peters is the first one out the door as soon as someone is back or up.

I can’t watch Peters and Benintendi anymore.

It is the little things. Can't get a bunt down, get picked off 2nd and you dont score. Pathetic

he hasn't made any errors and his OPS is .789. he's a lot better than I thought he would be.

Eh, IMHO, he’s a good defender who hasn’t been horrible at the plate. He’s a good 4th/5th OF who is just getting overexposed.

From what I can tell, Vargas is a liability at 3rd statistically. But let's keep our fingers crossed that he performs well where ever he is positioned.
