TBH, I don't know if that really was the call. I only got that from Gordon who has been less than reliable on matters like that. For all I know, Will got bad advice from whatever staff member looks at the replays.

It was. There was a moment that you hear it. You can hear he blocked the base. Plus the signal with the call. That's why will could not challenge. Arozarena was out

Plus it's not as easy as just saying obviously ! A manager needs to know what Seattle bullpen arms are likely to get into this game based on usage the prior games . Maybe Venable figured there was a chance to get Hill a pinch hit against a LHP late in the game where his splits are WAY better and he's been one of our better Pinch Hitters. I doubt you checked Seattles BP or his splits before you casually said "Obviously."
