How Much More Suffering is Needed?

Featured Replies

How much more rope is the front office going to give Jordan Hicks and Luis-Angel Acuna? I can’t stand both of those twats.

We’d likely be in first place if it weren’t for those boozos and if we had started the season with Taylor as our closer.

Bring up Braden Montgomery and DFA Kelenic.

Bring up Kory Lee and demote Quero to Charlotte.

Why are we rushing Montgomery?

He hasn't had nearly enough time in AA and AAA to overcome some struggles, compared to 75-80% of first round college prospects. Especially considering his missed draft season due to injury.

Sandlin better be good for having to deal with Jordan Hicks and the money left on the deal.

my guess is they would DFA Kelenic before Acuña, since Acuña plays IF and outfield so he provides more depth than Kelenic.

they're gonna have to make some roster changes when Hays and Pereira come back

Yeah the way some people were constructing the roster just last week (when Hays and Pereira come back and Braden comes up), the bench most days would feature a catcher and 3 OFs with 4 OFs starting (one being a backup IF in Antonacci) with one at DH. That's just not going to happen.

Venable sure likes his platoon options, though. They're invested in Kelenic, while Grichuk was a waiver signing on a heater. I could see the Sox just releasing Hays when he comes off of the IL, and rolling with Grichuk until Pereira forces the issue.

they'll keep as many of these guys around as possible, getz loves to let guys get hot so he can flip. the question is which guys are the likeliest to not amount to anything a month from now

if I had to guess:

Guys who won't be on the team after July:

Kelenic, Grichuk, Hill, Romo

Guys who provide enough value to stick around:

Pereira, Hays, Acuña, Peters

50/50: Benintendi, Quero

I'd swap Hill and Hays, as Hill plays great defense at all 3 OF spots, and Hays hasn't broken out with the bat. I also think Romo/Quero are working their way into a coin flip.

Pereira just hasn’t been able stay healthy the last 2-3 years.

Luckily there’s been more hits than misses so far. I can live with an expensive Hicks for one more season if Sandlin turns into something. Acuna is a real bummer though. We were hoping he could be a decent CF with an average bat but he looks like a utility guy that can’t hit at all.

once Acuña is DFA'd (which will happen at some point) ,why not promote Rikuu Nishida and turn him into a better version of Acuña, he can play OF and IF and is a much better and smarter hitter

Acuna can at least be a pinch runner for now until he is launched. Hicks is too wild to pitch in any close game; he is a mop up man for blowouts.

Acuna at least has a purpose, late game PR and defense/versatility.

Kelenic is barely AAAA fodder and doesn't really do anything well.

Hicks is at least gone for awhile. IL stint.... unofficially for chronic inflammation of the ERA I believe.

Fantastic news . Some rare sloppy bs the past two series and we’ve got to squash it now before it bleeds out.

The beatings will continue until moral improves.

Why ? Acuna isn't good . I wasnt arguing for Acuna with you but thats what you turned it into because your argument about how you wouldve constructed the lineup without him when Vargas was hurt for a day was weak.

Typical deflection behavior playing the victim. Poor baby.
