I'm over interleague as a thing. I don't follow the phillies, i don't care about the phillies as they aren't competing for an AL playoff spot with us. we'll see if kay's smoke and mirrors can survive another night.

I forgot about Luzardo. Man, the Phils have a lot of high end pitching.

I don't agree with the new schedule that makes every team play each other. I'd rather go back to playing the AL Central rivals 18-20 times a year and see the Phillies once every 2-3 years. Made interleague feel special too.

Sox are +160 on ML, be nice to "steal" the opener tonight.

Looks like Sox will avoid Sanchez and Wheeler.

Don't fool around with us, White Sox!

The Phillies swept us in 2024 on our path to a 3-22 start. It would be nice to pay them back.

Understood.

Just saying that that’s a pretty long list there

God so am I. His Sox fandom is so apparent. I hope one day he’s on our broadcast team. He seemed to indicate on a podcast with Chuck a few months ago that he would be really interested in doing so.

I enjoyed Dan doing the broadcast and the Sox putting together some wins was a bonus. I agree with you about Plesac on the broadcast team.

I think interleague is fantastic for the game, although I am one that also likes to follow the rest of the league as I believe it enhances my fan experience. The Phillies, while they are older, have a lot of interesting names to watch and follow. Interleague is bringing Ohtani and the rest of the Dodgers to town next weekend, which is fantastic. I for one am ecstatic to see how our Sox match up with the best teams in baseball, two of arguably the best happen to be in the NL (ATL and LAD). Should be a great test.

Even when he worked on the Cubs postgame show I wished he would come to the Sox, same with Len Kasper.

Are Davis Martin and Andrew Benintendi the only members of the team that was on that 2024 roster? Vargas was acquired later in 2024. Montgomery, Meidroth, and Quero all made their debuts last year. Antonacci, Gonzalez, Rikuu, and Peters all made their debuts this year. Acuna, Hill, Grichuk and Romo were on other teams.

Burke made his debut late in 2024. Sandlin debuted this year. I guess Fedde was on that team, but Kay was in Japan.

Taylor made his debut last year. Davis debuted this year. Newcomb, Hudson, and Seranthony were on other teams. Gilbert and Eisert were also on other teams as was Richards.

None of injured guys Smith, Murakami, Hays, Teel, Pereira, Schultz, or Baldwin was on that team either. So they have turned over the entire roster since the first half of 2024.

No wonder they’re better.

You're calling Kay's pitching smoke and mirrors because of his High FIP and WHIP. Maybe more too. His baseball savant page probably doesn't look much better.

I do know that when he pitches the Sox are 8-4. I know 10 of his 12 starts he has given up 2 or less Earned Runs. I know he usually out pitches the pitcher he is matched up against or at least our relievers out pitch theirs to get to that 8-4 record.

I know his 2nd to last start in April, Venable left him in on a bad day and he gave up 8 runs which blew up his ERA from 2.60 to 5.57 (A Venable save the pen day) and his next start it went to 6.27. Those were his bad 2 starts.

After that he made some changes about where he stood on the rubber and the results have been impressive at least as far as wins and losses go but also good enough to get his ERA from the high of 6.27 down to 3.77. Very respectable. Now every time Kay pitches you get to hear Schriff talk about the rubber stance change !! 🤣

He has a 5 pitch mix and his fastball is good enough to keep the hitters honest and off balance. He also throws a good amount of ground balls. So he does give up enough hits and walks to get himself in trouble but he's made a happen of pitching out of it too. 4 of his last 5 starts he's given up 0 or 1 ER and the other game was 2 ER

Lets hope Kay and Peters both keep defying predictive analysis. They both had amazing May's that contributed to that 18-10 May record.

I try not to look that much into predictive analysis. What happens happens. I can enjoy it more just seeing the good results . Murakami predictive analysis helped the Sox benefit and a LOT of people bought into the bad analysis. I'm not saying it's all wrong of course. But in a rebuild you are in a position to take chances and defy a lot of projections. Remember Meidroth was predicted to be the top WAR producer among position players by those projection models.

I used Pythagorean models of the Sox 2025 season to help me make a prediction for the wins this year so there are projections things I will use . I also believe that young players have not established themselves enough for models to get a good read on them so they are in general cautious. Young players can make adjustments and the development does not end in the majors.

Plenty of good luck this year but bad luck with injuries.

Davis Martin didn't pitch with us until July. I think Benintendi, Fedde, and Leasure were the only ones on the team in April 2024

Yeah I’m with you here. Most of the AL Central teams just aren’t all that interesting to me, especially with overexposure to them.

As a baseball fan in general, I love getting to see teams like the Phillies that I otherwise don’t get much exposure to.

Yea I'm a 180. I'm a Sox fan first and a MLB fan way way down the line. I almost never watch random games that aren't Sox. Sure Mariners on radio on summer nights once and awhile but I really can't remember the last time I watched a single inning of a non Sox game.

Only sport I really watch other games is college hoops and football, and that's always for potential schadenfreude of seeing Sparty lose or some s%*#.

When the Charlotte Knights drink 40-dogs of Old English 800 in the parking lots of Super 8s in Durham, Rochester and other AAA cities, Korey Lee tells his teammates headed for Chicago about the hatred he has for every single baseball team in the majors, and how, to a man, the current Chicago White Sox must harbor that hatred, and seek revenge with every single cell in their body.

Personally, I could do without the "rivalry series" and just play the Cubs as many times as they play the Cards, Pirates and Reds. But yeah, I really like playing the whole league.
