CLE loses 10-0 and they play the Yankees next. Just stay within striking distance.

What in the f*** are you talking about? I watch every game and I’m also not some dinosaur who doesn’t understand how basic statistics like BABIP work. This isn’t very hard pal…Peters a has a .378 BA

Maybe this team wasn't built to win. But the team is winning now and with a few additions this team could get into the playoffs this year.

Oh, sure. But I don't think they're swinging a major trade by next week. If somebody's Adrian Houser has an opt out deadline approaching, maybe they pick up that guy. But I don't think a fresh Hagen Smith walking 6.3 per 9 would fare much better against the Dodgers than Sandlin, at this point.

It's still even too early for teams like Boston, the Astros or the Mets to throw in the towel.

It may just come down to how the Palehose play the Guardians head to head. That should be fun.

The good: We had legit chances to win all three of these games. The offense showed up. All of the games were competitive. Gonzo went deep for the first time. Colson is showing more signs of life. Taylor was straight up nails yet again.

The bad: Our pitching staff really was exposed. We made far too many mistakes on the fundamental side ( which has not been the case this year ). We also failed to cash in on many RISP chances.

Most importantly, we didn’t face either of the Phillies top two. Ouch.

I’ve said for the past month that we are a starting pitcher, two bullpen arms, a competent DH, and a right fielder away from being where we want to be.

That also accounts for Schultz coming back and turning the corner.

Hopefully we have many of the answers to those holes on the IL and down on the farm.

We should be happy with taking one win here and find some solace that the team will come away from this with some good lessons under their belt.

Hopefully Will and the rest of the Coach staff will start making moves to the mound in more timely manners… as that will go a long way as well.

Peters with a couple great plays there in CF

He has been such an under appreciated bright spot. People on the board give him his due but I don’t the the casual fans really understand how badass the banana man has been.

You are a terrific poster CWS but please.. I beg of you.. do NOT do that condescending "pal" b.s. like Ray does.

You may want to consider who he was responding to. 😆

Getting hit all the time is the one thing I don't like about Sam's game

Why?

sloppy ass defense entire series too.

Was odd to see after we have been fundamentally sound for the entire season. Maybe the boys were a little stressed coming into Philly.

Or they ate one too many cheesesteaks and were sluggish.

I wonder if we have seen the last of Sandlin in the starting rotation. As it stands now he would be starting against the Dodgers next weekend. I don't know when Schultz is coming back. I don't know if Hagen Smith is ready to start in the rotation. I do know the team needs another starting pitcher.

Pretty tough spot you’d put Hagen in if you break him into the bigs against the Dodgers.

Most likely and considering how we all thought this year would pan out, that is an amazing position to be in.

I've always hated it when players do that so I'm not gonna change my mind just because our guy is doing it. Also getting hit every day doesn't seem like a sustainable way to play. When they showed Sam up close the other day looked like his arms were covered in bruises. He's young so he'll be fine for now but I would imagine that s%*# catches up to you after 162 games. That being said, I get why others love it so I'm not gonna argue about it. He's getting on base and that's fucking great

Huh? You’ve hated when baseball players get hit while batting…

I do not understand.

Was going to be that the whole time. People are making way too big of a deal of this little run.

I hate when players don't attempt to get out of the way of the pitch. Like Anthony Rizzo. Again just my opinion. I love Sam otherwise

Players probably hate when they get hit. I can understand that.

We knew that before the season started. Plenty of baseball teams are like that.

The other side is look at their run production.

Eh - it’s just a part of the game and it only bothers me when they actively lean into it.

But they had been getting the job done and exceeding expectations thus far. We all knew they are due for regression.

This team, as assembled, isn't built to "win". There are some aspects that are good. But this year was still supposed to be about giving some prospects runway to see what they had. Sandlin, Schultz, Shane Smith, McDougal, Hagen Smith, Thorpe, Mason Adams, Ky Bush - they're the cavalry. I'd think Sandlin is out there until one of these guys pops, or somebody's minor league free agent becomes available.

That has sort of backfired lately. Some are thinking wildcard or possible division. None of that talk existed back in the offseason. It's odd.

I still remember that Sox did that with Ruffcorn, the untouchable prospect. They'd call him up to pitch against the Indians. Most of the league didn't like pitching against them so why not have a minor leaguer do it.

This isn’t very hard pal…Peters a has a .378 BABIP. The highest BABIP in a full season since COVID is .376. If you think Peters is going to post the highest BABIP in baseball over the past six years, especially given his minor league profile, then you aren’t a serious poster. In the future, please keep your little pout fests in the 78 thread.

"Peters is going to post the highest BABIP in baseball over the past six years, especially given his minor league profile, then you aren’t a serious poster. "

Makes no sense. I am fine with Peters in every way moving forward, and he has been durable.

" In the future, please keep your little pout fests in the 78 thread."

Sounds like a cheap threat but I'm not intimidated. I will post when I feel I am adding something of value, like I did recently on the "78 thread" by posting about Phillip Bess' 1987 "Bill Veeck Park" plan for the 78. I also suggested a possible alternate site on the NE corner of 18th and Canal. I have questioned the use of the Airline Bridge for pedestrian traffic, but that was based on facts. Meanwhile, what have you added to that thread ? Not one thing.

I am not a "dinosaur" but I reject the content and tone of your responses to me. Maybe put me on your ignore list. You seem quite angry and irrational.
