July 11Jul 11 Author Twins pick is in. I think after this one I stop the spoilers.Lackey. Edited July 11Jul 11 by DirtySox
July 11Jul 11 There's not a Rock Chalooski in the draft is there? Maybe the Sox accidentally picked the wrong guy??
July 11Jul 11 He's def not a guy that stands out profile wise, but at the same time you don't want a guy that's maxed out physically either.

Kids gonna be worth 5.2 WAR with elite defense and 44 homers 108 rbis in first 162 games and he's being moved off his position and treated as a contributing player. Most disrespected and underrated player ive ever seen. Even by his own team.

I'm assuming the thought is he will dive around less and it will protect him more?
July 11Jul 11 I'll be looking closely at Emerson's career compared to Roch. I'm sure others here will be looking at Lackey's career more. Gonna be a fun look back in a few years. I really do hope Cholowsky absolutely leaves no doubts though he was the right pick.
July 11Jul 11 Author Lackey gonna cause us angst for years in Minny.Hopefully Roch does the same for them. Edited July 11Jul 11 by DirtySox

July 11Jul 11 i can live with this. This is a case similar to the NBA draft scenario....all 3 are gonna be great. I think Emerson will be the overall best, but if the Sox truly have started their competitive window and Bonemer hits, this is easily the best offensive and defensive infield in the MLB. It's really not even close in 2027.SS - Colson/Bonemer (June)/Roch (Sept)3B - Vargas/Colson2B - Meidroth/Bonemer1B - Mune/VargasDH - Mune/Colson/VargasThis is why they traded Gonzo...he literally was NEVER sniffing this lineup beyond this season. Acuna Jr better figure out how to impress enough the second half to stay a CF backup option, because the Outfield of Ant/Peters/Braden isn't going anywhere either. The only weakness of this team in 2027 is backup catcher - and Quero at the very least should be good enough. This team is going to be insane in 2027. With the talent in front of him that's his only option unless a bad injury or shocking trade with Colson, Roch, Vargas all with 5+ years of prime left.

Sounds like both guys are higher than initial projections. As has been discussed for months, there was a clear top three in this draft and those guys go chalk to kick things off. It appears that all the talk of underslot deals at the top proved to be nothing but plays to drive prices down. And based on these bonus amounts, the agents for Roch, Emerson, & Lackey knew teams were unlikely to pass on the handful of special talents and had the leverage.

Professional guessing and I'm an amateur!Ill probably be obnoxious if Lackey is way better, but if Roch is a star I'm fine with it. I was most confident he looked like a top tier pro, but it was college baseball.
