But again, I'm not down on this team at all -- I love the core and think it has a good chance to stick. And unlike the last flameout core we have a healthier wave of prospects on their way to fill whatever holes are created by injury, regression, the cheapness of an owner who might not be anxious to give Japanese Judge a record-destroying contract, etc. But those holes can open up quick, and I think we mentally lock guys into decade-long starting spots at our peril. (Not really, since what we as fans think and expect doesn't have any real-world stakes, but you know what I mean.) It's why it's so important to draft well, stockpile prospects, and not make rash moves for flashes-in-the-pan.

5 hours ago5 hr Like how they brought in several undrafted pitchers too. Maybe one of them turns into something.

3 hours ago3 hr White Sox laudedBraves Brewers Mets rippedSI2026 MLB Draft Winners and Losers: White Sox Nailed It, R...Now that the dust from the rest of All-Star week has settled, let’s look at some of the most exciting (and disappointing) draft classes.
3 hours ago3 hr “After nailing the top pick, Chicago snagged prep infielder—and Jim Thome’s son—Landon Thome at No. 34, and one of the best prep bats in the class at No. 41 with the selection of Cole Prosek. Both guys are plus hitters with good raw power. Georgia righty Joey Volchko was a value pick at No. 77; high-upside prep outfielder Alex Weingartner was a good addition at No. 166; and I like prep righty Kyle Casteel, whom they landed in the 11th round. If they managed to get him signed, it could be a major steal. The White Sox had a massive bonus pool and attacked this draft with aggression. On paper, it’s the best class anyone hauled in this year.“Any word on #15 OU’s Cam Johnson and their last pick that most don’t expect to sign?

Seemed like a great pick at the time. HS guys are just wild cards. I get why the greedy MLB owners want to limit them in the draft, but eff off.
