Yesterday at 06:00 PM1 day Not a sure thing yet, but it makes sense knowing that the White Sox like to do this with their young pitchers. They already have Hagen Smith pitching in the bullpen in the minors. Sounds like we may see Schultz and Hagen Smith up as bullpen pieces this season. What are your thoughts on this?

Watching Hagen out of the pen, it was the first time in what seemed to be forever where his stuff played up and looked near electric.
20 hours ago20 hr Of course this move may be predicated on acquiring starting pitching in the next 10 days. Can't have just three guys and two openers every five days.

Schweitzer, Richards and Murphy? That's fine. Some are acting like it's malpractice to get young, innings-limited starters work in the bullpen. It's not.
18 hours ago18 hr How could his limit be 100 innings if his previous high is 88 and 80 last year. That should put him around 130-140 this year. Never heard of 3 MLB years to ramp up to 150 innings lol.

18 hours ago18 hr Rather see Mcdougal /Smith. Doesn't seem like Schultz stuff will play up that much in the pen.I also wouldnt rule out the jump from 89 innings to 115-120 IP this year. That would put Schultz through the end of the year. The problem isnt the limit, its that hes not good enough to stick in the rotation. Edited 18 hours ago18 hr by Buehrle>Wood
17 hours ago17 hr Or he stinks and Sox don't want him to keep getting battered around. Probably a bit of both. Maybe he makes one more start and is replaced however and whoever at MLB level. He can go work on some things in Charlotte the last month of the year and work towards next season without so much pressure.

17 hours ago17 hr Please don't start this bum against the Yankees. Unlike some I think the Sox shouldn't just be happy to be here, they need to win this series.

6 hours ago6 hr Schultz would have more innings under his belt if he could just get some more hitters out.

He’s got 12 turns left in the rotation and at 5 innings per start that would put him at 140 total on the season. May guess is they use off days to skip two starts and land him around 130.

1 hour ago1 hr There's a lot going on with Schultz. Lots of changes being worked on etc. I think the org has failed him but regardless, a role shift is likely coming due to innings.

Seems like something to work on in the minors.

They've totally changed who Schultz is. He's throwing 6 pitches with a higher slot and he's got too many voices. I believe a simplification is coming.

They have put him in a tough spot trying to learn on the job at the highest level in the middle of a divisional race. But part of that is because of the situation the Sox put themselves in and were a victim of, namely a lack of quality, healthy pitching at a lot of levels and in roster acquisition.
