Is It Time to Move Colson Down

Featured Replies

All year he has struggled with RISP which fits his three true outcome profile. Additionally he has been in a slump over a 30 game period now whereas he’s striking out at a 30% clip and is only hitting a bomb at about a 1 in 30 ab pace.

That isn’t getting it done from the cleanup spot.

So, while I’m still a huge believer in this kid, I do think it might be a good time to move him down to 5th, 6th, or 7th in the lineup… and move someone else into the cleanup spot who can help us improve our team LOB numbers.

We finally saw it today with Grich in the 4 hole.

What say ya‘ll?

I first thought this thread was about moving him down to AAA. I was ready to explode.

Yea, that would be completely dumb.

I'm not opposed

I thought Ron made this thread and immediately thought that Colson will go on a hot streak.

It’s mental. He’s pressing with RISP and, to make matters worse with RISP, he’s clearly being coached to approach every AB with a “be the aggressor” attitude.

The good news? He seems very coachable, and kinda proved to be in AZ last season.

The bad news? He’s light on instinct and clearly needs to start being coached on situational approaches.

TBF, he did have a few singles/doubles for RBI the last week or so, so perhaps these convos have already started.

Oh I’m most certain they have and if I recall, they also had him out of the cleanup slot today, yea?

I'm not opposed to trading him in the future. Sell high on him of somebody is willing to buy. Roch will be ready in no time.

He needs to focus more on making contact and less on homeruns. Bring in Menechino to work with him.

Of course we have all the answers for a professional hitter, but in my humble opinion he needs to relax and take his walks. Stop swinging at that low inside pitch and force the pitcher to throw a strike.

It’s like he is protecting the high part of the strike zone but he cannot get to the high part of the strike zone. All of his recent hits seem like sawed off gork shots between the infield and outfield. Not sure what he needs to do to get right

162 is a grind, he'll be fine.

Fix the title of this thread.

Assuming he means adding something about “down in the order” instead of just “down”. Makes it sound like he wants him down in AAA.

Soxtalk resorting to clickbait threads?

I feel like either option are out there right now. Anyhow, if the OP wants to change it he can

We just need to reopen the filibuster to bank clicks.

There is that balance of "you're our guy, and we have confidence in you, so we will keep penciling you on that spot until you break out" and "you're our guy and we need you to be productive. We're going to help you out by dropping you down in the order until you get back on track"

We might not be the time to drop you down to Clean Up 2, but it's getting close.
