Unless our pitching coordinators, who already have a pretty mixed record of success, have identified an easy-to-fix flaw with Peralta and feel they can make him absolutely dominant and do so quickly, I don't think this is the kind of deal Getz is looking to make. The checkbook is open, why the hell would he choose to spend farm assets instead?

Obviously plenty of scenarios where he isn't worth that qualifying offer - but if was becoming a free agent a year ago, I think he would have gotten that offer.
