I agree Burke could've gone out for the 8th.

Looks like he’s going on 4 days rest against Tigers

    Pope Leo went to Villanova.

The place was absolutely rocking tonight. A real waste of a packed house and incredibly favorable pitching matchup. Felt like a sure win.

I am convinced that he was a great pickup and will excel with our staff in Chicago.

Team is up 4-1 through 7.

Bullpen gives up the game and everyone is jumping to extremes.

They could have won and should have. Bummer. Just have to go get em tomorrow and have other guys pickup Hudson / Taylor.

This is the second time in the last five games the bullpen has not been able to close the door and put the contest in the win column. They could be starting to break down because the starters aren't going deep into games.

That to me is absolutely a cause for concern.

Another aspect is dont understand is if you how are going to pitch Taylor two innings, why not just let him start the 8th? Just stupid decisions

Even with stronger arms in the pen this year they still havent "defined" roles. I feel like there was an effort early in the year with Dominguez but when that failed they just went back to the matchup game.

No more bullshit. Make Taylor the closer, Brazoban can be a nice 8th inning guy with Hicks going the 7th and lefties to be used as needed. No more 40 pitch Taylor outings or adventures in the 6th. There are so many tools in that pen being improperly utilized and thats the most frustrating part.

Well, to quote Dido, "I won't put my hands up and surrender. There will be no white flag above my door."

Have no idea who Dido is but I wish JR had that attitude in July 1997.

I think so.

She's probably best known here for doing the chorus in Eminem's "Stan" as well as being in the music video.

Oh snap, didn’t see that coming. If he performs well, could be a good call. I see why they’re doing so as I’m sure we all do.

Concern, absolutely. There are a ton of unknowns with this team and kids who are getting their first taste in many ways… but I think it’s a bit extreme to say or think that this team is going to be looking up at Detroit soon.

This I completely agree with.

Good sentiment lyrically but it hurt to even hear its melody in my head as I read the line. 😆

They’re about to face the two hottest teams in baseball on the road. We have so many slumping hitters and pitchers. They’re really going to have to turn things around.

The Tigers & Cubs series are going to tell a lot about this team . really need to take the next 2 games going into that.

One of those string of games again?

You’re saying use Taylor in the ninth just after he failed in a high leverage situation in the eighth. Guy has a halo for no apparent reason.

Keep the faith.

Venable, Hudson, Taylor all contributed to the loss. Taylor had a chance to get out of the inning with 1 run scored and coughed it up. Offense went to sleep early and never woke up. Burke get screwed again.

Im not speaking to yesterday's game specifically. Im saying in general stop messing with his head, give him some consistency, and let the rest of the bullpen know their regular expectations. Be done with the game to game approach. Its not working.
