Wednesday at 01:03 AM2 days I keep thinking about this because it makes me slightly erect. The Sox infield has so much damn potential in the near future. I think our defense can be top notch. This is how I would like it to shake our earlier in the season. I think Bonemer will be ready pretty early.C - Teal1B - Vargas2B - ChaseSS - Colson3B - BonemerRF - BradenCF - PetersLF - ChaseDH - MuneMy only concern is whether Vargas and Mune will be OK with changing positions. I think Vargas is probably a better 1st baseman. Maybe you let them split time to keep Mune happy. Also, playing Vargas occasionally at 3B to keep him happy. I'd imagine Bonemer would be better at 3rd than Vargas. Then there is scenario where Roch is ready mid season. I'm not banking on it, but it's possible. That makes things trickier. Good problem to have.C - Teal1B - Vargas2B - ChaseSS - Roch3B - Colson/BonemerRF - BradenCF - Peters/BonemerLF - Chase/BonemerDH - MuneWe know the Sox are going to start playing Bonemer at CF now. I think you'd just have to play him almost as a super sub to get him playtime. Not sure this is the best idea, but it's a way to get him at bats regularly. We could also get guys rest regularly this way. What do you guys think it will look like? Edited Wednesday at 02:43 AM2 days by ron883
Wednesday at 04:22 AM2 days If Montgomery is gone, which I don't think will happen (but I would make it happen), I think Bonemer replaces him. From there, I don't think you see Roch until a year afterwards. I think you'll see Vargas at 2B before you see Roch make his debut.

Think you mean Ant in left.
Wednesday at 04:52 PM2 days trying to make the least predictable sport more predictablethe bigger issue is the mound
Wednesday at 05:46 PM2 days First of all, why are the Sox giving Bonemer reps CF when we already have a damn good centerfielder with Peters. I would try Bonemer in LF. Second, why take Mune off first and Vargas off 3rd, they have both been more than adequate at their positions this year. Third if Bonemer makes it in either LF or CF, what happens to Ant Man? The biggest decision will be at SS, will the Sox go another year with Colson until Roch is ready or maybe go with Meidroth as SS and Ant at 2B. All this is very interesting but the big job for Getz this offseason will be signing some decent starting pitching.

To tell the truth, I’d keep both of those guys before Colson, both have a higher OPS and WAR than Colson. This thread is very interesting but the big job for Getz this offseason will be signing some decent starting pitching. As for Antonacci, he could be the odd man out and trade bait.
Wednesday at 05:52 PM2 days One of Sam, Colson, Chase is probably the odd man out and out of those guys it's easiest to see Sam imo. Love him to death but not sure he's a legit MLB 2B and in LF his value isn't that great. Other thing I could see would be selling high on Peters for SP and keeping the young IF core together. We'll see, good problem to have.

Wednesday at 10:10 PM2 days Coming out of ST I think Bonemer and Roch are still in the minors, but they could be up in 2027. Wednesday at 10:25 PM2 days Chase traded, Ant to 2nd, Bonemer to Left. Everyone else stays put and rotates DH.

One of those 3 should probably be traded for pitching. It's very possible Chase and Sam's value will be at all-time highs after this season. It's also possible the Sox don't believe in Colson's bat or health longterm. I have no idea which of those 3 will be legit players long-term. I'd choose trading Colson to be honest. He should have the most value and I'm not sure about his bat/health longterm. We also have Roch coming up in the near future. Trading Peters while his value is high is an interesting thought. Seems like a shrewd move a team like the Rays would make. Really ballsy move.

However, Antonacci on the bench is as painful as it is good, even though I realize he would be in a Ben Zobrist role and get a lot of starts. He deserves to be a starter somewhere.
