Very little actually said here. Summary for anyone that cares:

1.) They believe in all of the guys they brought on and have plans for all of them which they are hoping lead them all to being productive.

2.) Proclaims “changes during the season are hard, even small ones.”

And that’s about all. Some specifics about bringing Castillo’s change back, hope for Doyle to return to his 20 home run potential, and Brazoban’s arm angle having been different prior to his injury that they seem to equate to his poor performance since coming over.

“These guys could give us meaningful production in October which would be great”

“It’s hard to judge impact in just three week”

Stuff like that.

Changes are hard mid season which is why it’s strange that Getz went out and acquired two projects out of four total additions.

His moves were telling. To me they spoke of arrogance. He’s really firm in the belief in the departments he’s built and he’s really firm in his belief of our kids on the farm.

I think that arrogance was shortsighted where there should have been a more balanced approach. There should have been more of a willingness to sacrifice some of the future for the present.

Oh well… if it doesn’t pan out and he owns this, I’ll forgive it. If it pans out then he was right and he’ll earn some respect.

Big gamble in my book. But then again, this team has responded every single time they are challenged or questioned… so maybe he has cause to feel such confidence.

Another example we all likely forgot about was that Woods kid that we got in the Gonzo deal with Pittsburgh. Dude got lit up like a Christmas tree in his first Charlotte outing but has since gone something like 11 games 1.43 ERA and double digit strikeouts.

That may be another example of taking on a project and his coaching staff bringing results.

Cubs traded away their no 2 prospect Jefferson Rojas at the trade deadline and received Clay Holmes.

Getz may have competed for Holmes by trading Billy Carlson or even Bonemer. That may have made the difference between winning the Division or not.

Guardians traded for OF Jo Adell from the LA Angels for catching prospect Jacob Cozart who became the No. 16 prospct in the Angels system.

Getz had a few catcher prospects to make that deal. Instead Getz went for Doyle.

I suppose this, like almost everything else that goes wrong, can be blamed on JR and the lack of the financial support promised from Ishbia. Or , more simply, the lack of urgency to win the Division this season leaving this very good team just short of the Guardians.

Doyle might be a project, but he is also a plug and play elite CF. I think the need for a true CF incase Peters gets injured was the motivation for the trade.

Doyle also can be of value for years as a OF glove on the bench with spots starts.

The Rockies were looking to dump him and he probably would have been a giveaway player or non-tender in the offseason. Not a guy you give up what Getz gave up for him.

Jo Adell's on a hot streak since getting to Cleveland. He put up a 93 OPS+ in Anaheim, which is below average. He's not a CF. The team wanted to replace Pereira, who was always injured, and is not a CF. There would have been no point in acquiring Jo Adell.

I completely agree with you. I think Getz got high on his own supply. He really thought he could "fix" these guys midseason? As if it is that easy to drastically improve players.

We like to think we are a fly on the wall with these negotiations. We haven't the slightest clue what went on.

We want to believe the myth the farm system is on the level of other organizations.

It's a big difference trading for a World Series which maybe having at least 2 Skubals might do it.

There's a reality ignored that much of this Sox lineup came from other farm systems.

I have to agree with the arrogance part. Unfortunately it's hard for a GM to avoid that midseason trade deadline just to make a trade.

This is an important point. Given how bad this staff is, how many arms would we have needed to acquire at the deadline to become serious World Series contenders? 2-3 high quality 2/3 starters, a couple bullpen arms capable of consistently surviving high leverage outings, and a catcher who can hit the ball but also play decent defense? I mean, you can't keep Acuna on a WS contender so we'd have to find a replacement for him, I'd imagine.

Do y'all realize we could have emptied out our top 10 prospects and probably still not have a true contending roster? Why the hell would we sacrifice 3-4 top prospects who likely end up in MLB just to win the Central this year? Y'all would be calling for Getz's head come October when the Sox don't even make it out of the ALDS...."HE SACRIFICED OUR FUTURE FOR THIS????"
