It's important to remember that Castillo and Doyle are also longer term projects. They weren't just for this season.

Getz could have just gotten him for free in the offseason when the Rockies non-tendered him.

Then, they could have also had Adams pitching for them right now. Gotta love deadline moves that make your team worse.

Can we call it a bad trade if they DFA Doyle?

It’s ok to acknowledge that Getz had a great offseason and put this team in a position to compete faster than anyone expected, while also acknowledging that some of his deadline moves were questionabl

  • Which is kind of annoying, because it's not often this franchise makes the playoffs and there's a lot of uncertainty towards next year because of the impending lockout. I'm not saying they should hav

Maybe although I suspect some wouldn't even go that far. LOL.

But look how much they saved in arbitration because of his numbers 2-3 year ago!!!

Sox finish season vs Rockies. I would not be surprised if Mason Adams pitches one of those games.

Only the stubborn White Sox would consider a guy in the top 20 for active players in innings pitched a long term project. Wtf were they thinking

Getz has made trades that haven't worked out. I don't think 3 weeks after a trade is the time to judge that a trade is "bad".

Still don’t think it was bad?

Don't think you're going to get a response other than you should appreciate everything Chris GEtz has done to get the Sox into this position with just 22 games remaining.

Doesn't quite feel like 2012's inevitable death march at the end.

More like 2000/08/20 mixed together.

I have no idea what the M's owner looks like, but I have to imagine everytime he sees Castillos line it has to look something like the Jerry smirking meme.

Excellent.

Really thought we would see Thorpe this series. There's no reason he shouldn't be pitching in the MLB his next start.

Dan Wilson is currently thinking of additional rape-job trade offers to submit to Getz a minute after the World Series is over.

Good luck getting him to admit that. Meanwhile, Mason Adams has only made 2 starts and still has more good starts than Castillo.

It is kinda strange unless the Sox simply don't think he can do the job.

They still have to activate him soon regardless if he pitches in the majors or not.

Don’t forget my favorite argument — the Sox winning percentage post-trade deadline improved. Therefore, all of Getz’s deadline trades were a net positive.

I guess that may be why he’s seemingly gone into the Witness Protection Program. 🤣

Defending Getz seemed a very easy job after Saturday's games...even Murakami falling into their laps doesn't feel like a crowning achievement at this point.

But no team has ever won their division coming off a 100 loss season...let alone two or three!!!

Think how amazing that is!!!

It's pretty much the greatest story in modern baseball history and should be a Disney movie...except for the AL Central being so darned weak.

That certainly is playing a major factor.

They have still made a drastic improvement since last season but realistically, it’s the only reason they are in the playoff hunt right now. Only the AL West is as pathetic.

No. They have to figure him out. Maybe there were more cheap, "plug and play" options, but I get what they were trying to do.

Maybe don’t acquire a guy in a pennant race that has to “figure it out”. You might be the last person on the planet that doesn’t think Getz blew this big time.

Yeah, I'm probably being 'online dude' and digging in on it. But I think I have the history of not really declaring something a win or loss until seeing how it works, some.

14-15 since the trade deadline

that's not two games over .500

they didn't play that Monday the 3rd

not sure where WE is getting his information but it's not Baseball Reference

9727-9781, .499 W-L%

closer to their all time franchise record or the .489 winning percentage of Jimmy Dykes, who recorded the most managerial victories
