It's important to remember that Castillo and Doyle are also longer term projects. They weren't just for this season.

Maybe don’t acquire a guy in a pennant race that has to “figure it out”. You might be the last person on the planet that doesn’t think Getz blew this big time.

GaTech unexplicable loss to Prime Time must have you salty lol

thought it was over when they blocked the field goal @ 10-7...Colorado QB was ineffective all game long until he suddenly wasn't

but Colorado controlling both lines of scrimmage hardly ever happened two seasons ago when they went 9-4 or whatever

It’s ok to acknowledge that Getz had a great offseason and put this team in a position to compete faster than anyone expected, while also acknowledging that some of his deadline moves were questionabl

  • Which is kind of annoying, because it's not often this franchise makes the playoffs and there's a lot of uncertainty towards next year because of the impending lockout. I'm not saying they should hav

I have a gigantic hatred for college sports now. Portal has ruined everything. I also think Key is a crappy coach, so loss doesn’t bother me.

The trades have all been a partial failure already due to this reason alone. I guess they could partially redeem themselves if the players perform well next season, but there’s also no guarantee that they are in the playoff hunt next year.

Doyle would have been DFA and Castillo probably a 1/10 pitcher in value. Mariners wouldn’t have kept him another year

Yep, good point. They could have been acquired for a song in the offseason.

You're right about Doyle. Nontendered next year if they'd have kept him this year. I can't believe Getz fell for it twice in one week.

No. They have to figure him out. Maybe there were more cheap, "plug and play" options, but I get what they were trying to do.

I didn't realize the White Sox are at the forefront of anti-aging technology. Hopefully they make this breakthrough in the next few days.

Trading Boston Smith didn’t annoy me at first, but now there would have been a possibly pathway for playing time late 27 or 28 if Murakami tanks

What annoys me is that there was just no reason to have to include him in the deal. Getz got played.

Probably would have been DFA’d and released after deadline at some point. Or waived this month

And honestly, even if he doesn’t have a position here, he can keep blowing up and used as a better trade chip in a year, year and a half from now. So the whole “doesn’t have a long term fit” was always a lazy argument

Also, even if he’s ultimately just a DH, if his bat is truly legit would anyone care? He be STROKIN’.

I always hated that argument. Many of the Sox insiders kept repeating that while buying into the fact that Getz could "fix" Castillo. Smith leads the freaking minors in OPS. There's also injuries and trades. They'd be able to find him at bats. The "nowhere to play" claims were ridiculous.

Yeah, I'm probably being 'online dude' and digging in on it. But I think I have the history of not really declaring something a win or loss until seeing how it works, some.

Just admit that I was right and you were wrong 🙂 No reason to dig in further.

When you manage to make Jaime Navarro look “serviceable,” lol

Even with his seven scoreless against the Cincinnati Reds included, he has a 7.52 ERA with the White Sox, and opponents are hitting .325/.379/.605.

Boston Smith six games plus without a homer!!

You said you would call for Chris Getz's head if he traded for Jo Adell this deadline. Those were your exact words. You're willing to say that would be a bad trade but not yet willing to call the Castillo trade bad? Where's the consistency here?

The consistency is that Jo Adell isn't a CF. Luis Castillo is a starting pitcher. I understand why they acquired Castillo. I wouldn't understand why they acquired Adell.

Why wouldn’t you understand if they wanted to upgrade their corner outfield hitting against LHP?

If they did that, I would.

Adell played 89 games in CF last year. Even if he was really bad at it, the comparison still stands as Castillo has been really bad as an SP, in fact he was so bad, Seattle quit using him there... sound familiar?

Don’t trade Mason Adams for Doyle and insert him into the rotation instead. Acquire Adell and let Pham retire. Sox are a better team and they don’t have Castillo’s waste of millions on next year’s payroll.

I'll wait and see instead of believing the guy who thought Vargas was a bench bat, at best.
