He's a big upgrade over Doyle and can give Montgomery some days off against lefties. If there's no locker room issue and his relationship with the FO is fine I think they should do it.

In the highlights from that first game against the Mets, Robert was getting big hugs from other players pregame.

  • I haven’t watched every pitch this season, but…Sean Newcomb should seemingly have like an 8 WAR, because I don’t know where this team would be without him this year. Just a fantastic signing (I’m sure

  • Today was so fucking massive for letting the bullpen get some rest. Will pay off big. Now if Martin can come back and be an asset that is huge. Would love for him to be first half Martin, but I'll tak

  • Your first place Chicago White Sox came into Minnesota clearly understanding the assignment, and win a well pitched game 2 to secure the series. 72-63 sets a new high water mark of 9 games over .500.

Robert will come here and be injured within two weeks. I 100% guarantee it. If Getz bring him back he is asking for trouble.

The Sox have finally washed out the stench of the worst season in MLB history. We should want nothing to do with that.

I saw an article that listed the 3 most likely landing spots for La Pantera being Phillies, Guardians and Blue Jays

I can’t see him making it to the White Sox. Are players picked up in waivers in September eligible for the postseason?

Dude's an introvert (you could tell from his All-Star appearance), but vibed real well with Colson and Vargas when they were all here.

When rosters expand, it'd basically be like: Would you rather have Robert (and his price tag) or Rikku.

Short answer is no. A player has to be on the 40-man roster or 60-day injured list as of August 31 at 11:59 p.m. ET in order to be eligible for the postseason. (paraphrased from a Google search on this issue).

So glad Cleveland caught KC during their hottest stretch of the season.

Mets probably want something for him . Wouldn't surprise me if they pulled him back off waivers after no one meets their price.

Or if you are slightly more lowbrow...

Oh by the way David Sandlin pitched a complete game (7 IP) 2 hit shutout with 1 BB & 9 K.

He might've just catapulted himself into a September call up.

I think with LRJ the main issue is that $2M buyout. I don’t think a team is going to want to pay that on top of the rest of his salary for the season. That, and he’s just a ticking time bomb for another injury. Sure he’s playing well now, but it’s likely he’ll have another lower body injury before the end of the season or during the postseason if a playoff team claims him.

It makes sense that the Mets would put him on waivers. I think though that they’ll end up having to pay the rest of his deal, they’ll end up buying him out, and he’ll have to find another team that’s willing to take him on in free agency (probably a team like the Angels or Rockies). It will probably end up being a 1 year, $2 million or something.

It's a possibility, after 9/1 the Sox wall be able to carry 14 pitcher's total. Davis Martin will be back up for the Houston series. I assume there will be shuffling of pitchers back and forth, Tyler Davis and Tyler Gilbert come to mind.

The trade deadline has passed.

They just want salary relief

Robert makes a lot of sense for the Sox as a guy who can hit LHP. Sox are incredibly weak in the outfield against LHP. Lots of potential postseason matchups with good LHP involved.

Zero chance they want that weirdo back.

I know but it's a waiver claim and I thought that there was a 48 hr window to work out a deal. For instance. If the team wanting the player has to take all the salary they are also saving the Mets luxury tax money on top of the remaining salary and the buyout so that amount is close to $5M but they are saving the Mets money in Luxury tax too. So you're doing them a big favor. Maybe some handshake deal off the books for a favor later can be worked out. that 48 hr period is close if not over already anyway. So if we haven't heard anyone picked him up yet , we probably won't.
