Gilbert is only up as a fill in for Schweitzer going on the paternity list (congrats to him), probably doesn't even see the end of this road trip.

But I was listening and not watching so do not have my own opinion. And yes, that was a big play which could have led to Hicks going another inning and with a closer game things might have been different.

Then when he did, it was in a bad spot. Not making excuses for Colson, but they both share some blame on that play.

13 hours ago13 hr Today is why starting pitching gets even more important down the stretch.That the Sox don't have five guys they can rely on to work in the last five weeks says a lot.As far as the hitting, especially since the break, 'the big three' has had their issues overall.Another important series starts Monday, four games in Houston.Would love to see a split.

And by long term I don't just mean the last month but also next year, assuming their is a season.

12 hours ago12 hr The Sox finish August 14-13. They've been a model of consistency going back to May. They've finished every month 1 game above .500 since. Unfortunately, it will be impossible for them to do that in September given that they play an even number of games (26). The Sox have been .500 outside the month of May, where they went 18-10. .500 the rest of the way gets them to 85 wins.Edit: I just realized that September 1st is Tuesday and the Sox play Monday.
