Playing in is still the right thing to do regardless of throwing anyone out. It's the "no singles" alignment basically.

Now that I digested this horrific loss, if someone asked me before the series started if I would take playing Wednesday's game for the series, I would take it in a heartbeat. Sox looked dead after STL, they've been more than competitive, they should be looking to sweep these fuckers but oh well, that's baseball. These games build character. Either they're up to the challenge tomorrow or Sox gotta make some wholesale changes for next season... starting with the skipper.

Right. If they get a hit the game is over anyway. He has no fucking arm. Play for the out. But he never should have been out there. You took your best defensive OF out of the game to have a terrible hitter PH for him and created that problem yourself.

They were dead. I can see them getting absolutely destroyed tomorrow. How they play tomorrow will say a lot about their character.

As for the velocity supplying the power, the physics on it would basically play out like this: on a ball hit real high like that, every extra mph on the pitch is going to add maybe 6 inches to the batted ball distance. That's assuming that the batter will strike the ball equally well regardless of pitch speed which of course isn't true.

Lose tomorrow and then you have the red hot Tigers for 4 who have a real shot at that last WC. Right now I don't see this team making the playoffs at all. I hope they prove me wrong.
