Just a reminder in such a huge game Murakami wears the Golden Sombrero. But hey he also had a walk.

What is it gonna take to get him the f*** out of the cleanup spot and I don't mean moving him back to 3rd. You are being a stubborn dumbass, Venable.

And stop it with all the damn openers.

I almost wonder if Mune has a stipulation in his contract where he can't bat lower than 4th. It just makes no sense. It's like having a non Shohei pitcher bat cleanup

  • This loss was on Will. Starting Murphy instead of Davis and gifting 3 runs to the Guardians in the 1st inning.

  • I don’t think anyone is mad at him. Rather he shouldn’t have been put in that position.

If Doyle had not been pinch hit for by Braden, Peters could have been in left instead of Antonacci. The game ends on Rochios's at bat when Peters catches that ball. Doyle had 2 hits already and Braden

The way the guys looked after that play, it felt like they knew their season was done. Burke looked shellshocked.

I don't know about that, we'll see tomorrow I guess.

Kay Fedde Castillo vs Messick

you're going to beat their LH All Star three times in a season with the bullpen basically wiped out???

but no not Cade Smith

they hardly made him work

Just looking at this again, did anyone else feel like Sam didn't quite fully dive? Felt like he didn't want the ball to get past him. But...if that drops the game is over anyways.

Wouldn’t have mattered, but yeah, ugly

For those saying it was a “perfect pitch” - I beg to differ. Again… NO BALLS and TWO STRIKES… it was at the letters. If you’re going up to someone who already PULLED a homer down the line on a high fastball against you…

IT NEEDS TO BE UP AT HIS FUCKING EYES AT LEAST!!!

It needs to be a ball in the dirt in all honesty.

That inning should have never made it to Rocchio. He's the guy you want to leave on deck in these situations.

The walk to the .207 hitting catcher was a dagger.

Tomorrow I HOPE AND PRAY that Venable has THE SHORTEST HOOK OF ALL HOOKS with Kay.

Bounce back and win at all costs boys!!! LAST CHANCE TO TAKE TWO IN ONE AGAINST THESE FUCKS.

GO TIME!!!

Hyperbole much? The last time this team got walked off in Cleveland, they came back and won. It sucks but this is bordering on ridiculous. The one thing you can't question about these guys is their mentality. They aren't quitters.

I completely agree.

I wish I could be optimistic, but the Sox are starting Anthony Kay against Parker Messick.

Messick has been extremely good, while Kay has been...very much not that lately.

We're gonna need Kay to bring his best stuff, and I mean, BEST. Stuff.

That seems totally out of character for a Japanese player...it's always team first attitudes, as long as the team wins, that's all that matters

sacrifice for common goal, etc.

I think it just speaks to his difficulty tracking the ball and not knowing how to time/position the dive. You can see how his glove ended up upside down as well so if you teleported him a few feet closer the ball may have hit the back of his thumb instead of going into the glove.

0-2, they need to be unhittable, especially when Rocchio is in protection mode, make him chase high or very low, basically in the dirt. Gotta trust your catcher to keep it in front of him. That fastball was slightly above the strike zone, unacceptable in that situation.

they will pitch him Thursday vs. Detroit then?

This team has been resilient all season and even with a loss it is basically even with us having the tiebreaker. It's tough because winning tonight could have been a knockout blow for CLE but now they have life.

Of course they looked shell shocked but you’re projecting. They are professionals. You are a fan.

I guarantee you NONE of the team or coaching staff feel like their season is over. NOT ONE.

Do you happen to have his route on a play last series (last game of the series) in Cleveland to end the 8th?

He just pitched Saturday

Not a fan of his overall effort

I’m not all that sure that he is still in the rotation. I think they are going Burke, Martin, Kay, Fedde, Sandlin for the rest of the way.

Yeah I know, that sucks. Should be playing with house money tomorrow looking to sweep these scrubs...send them in a tailspin the way the Sox did to the Tiggers

guess you're right

short outing on Saturday after getting extra test supposedly

61 pitches

game Grichuk saved late

so Thursday would be his slot

but maybe going Sandlin as well as Kay/Fedde

who the hell knows anymore after tonight's case study in inexperienced managerial decisions

I think Castillo is out of the rotation until Sandlin proves he doesn’t deserve a spot… if that happens.
