The reality is the playoffs have already started for the Sox. They have to play and manage all 9 of these just like that is the case. And if they do make the playoffs having to play with that pressure

Everyone in the bullpen has dead arm because starters are allergic to going over 4 and 2 thirds.

I think the 16 hits from Detroit were the main problem in this one. Tough to have the comeback but you just flat out got beaten. For me, bad loss = mental mistakes give up a game that should have been won easily

Pitches they were hitting were awful. Newcomb has no command of his breaking ball now and his fastball is getting destroyed.

Have the Sox really lost 13 of their last 19 games? That’s what Chuckie just said…

They shut down every game. It's just one inning of offense and then nothing.

I said this the other day, but this is also why no other team has their bullpen guys throw 40 pitches from time to time

Historic collapse. Complete choke job.

Sandlin is a reliever, IMO

Unless he can go more then 1 1/2 times through the order without imploding, I agree. Thorpe should’ve been the call, not him. Everyone forgets how highly thought of and that he made the jump straight from AA. Dude would at the very least eat some innings they desperately needed.

Isn’t Burke starting? Also I still think it will get ppd

Sox were 72-63 on 8/30

In the next 19 games, theyve won 6.

I doubt it’s historic

Getzpocalypse.

It’s obvious you have to spend to win. The White Sox have never signed a 6 figure player. Benitendi was the biggest contract they’ve had. 85 million, they’ve never signed to top line pitcher. They’ve traded away Sale, Cease, Crotchet to name a few. Getz did a great job though in the Crotchet trade, it did net us Teel, Montgomery and Meidroth. The Cease trade is a bunch of maybes. I don’t know who’s going to be a free agent in the off season but they better rebuild the pitching staff

Loser stuff from a loser franchise. Nothing will change until the old man croaks 🤷‍♂️

That's a bulshit excuse.

You also need to develop your top prospects. Not getting a single reliable starter out of Schultz, Smith and the Cease trade is a huge black eye on the organization.

I'm not that down on Sandlin TBH. Not sure if he'll make it in the long run but that's true of just about everybody on every team. He has improved a lot in a short period. In this game, it felt like he got stuck on pitch selection that was just not working at all after batters got a look at his cutter enough times. I think when he's not walking people and keeps the ball in the ballpark, he'll usually do fine. I just haven't totally trusted him to do those two things. He's had some monumental L/R splits in MLB so that's going to be the key thing to watch. In AAA, he ended up basically eliminating the handedness split.

What a joke....stopped playing with a 8-2 lead.

Apparently they're unaware that these last few games are kind of important

Jerry: "OBJECTION! I have signed many 6 figure players!"

I had that as a win after the first inning, 8 runs still should have got it done.

I think the only times where he hasn't given up runs is when he was the opener.

Why go back to the well, when it’s dry?

Guardians getting a first round bye is so annoying

It’s never over until it’s over. We just need to score many runs to overcome the gassed bullpen. Try Castillo out of the pen maybe he can earn his money.

Half those runs were scored off tigers errors. The offense went got 1 hit from the 4th inning on and went 1-2-3 in the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th inning with 6ks in those ABs. The offense rolled over. Not excusing the pitching staff but the offense disappeared after the 3rd inning

Sunk cost fallacy

Do the White Sox even have a starting pitcher? Can any of them even throw more than 60 pitches? They have an entire team of long relievers. This pitching staff is absolutely pathetic.

Fedde, Martin, and Burke can all go 7 easy if you're cool with being down a 5 spot

Benintendi was $75 million

not $85

Grandal contract #2
