Yes, we lost a few games that we should have won but Colson Montgomery is the main reason we didn’t win the division, he’s been a disaster the second half, how many other teams would have stuck with a strikeout machine like him.

I could see it happening, but don’t even know what his value is at this point. If you can’t anything that helps you, then might as well hold and send his ass to AAA next year to work on stuff and pray for a turnaround.

Plenty of teams need SS. Neto had a big market at the deadline and he’s not exactly amazing

Don't forget the error he made in St. Louis that literally lost us that game. You can excuse the blunders at short when he's hitting 40+ homers a year, but not when he's hitting .150 for a whole half.

Unless there's something you're getting from Colson when working one on one that makes him appear to be incorrigible, you are 100% starting with him as your SS next year. Much of the upside of the team is in his bat. He's had extended runs of good play in MLB. He has also bounced back from horrible play before. Just as important, you basically have internal options to deal with it if he falls on his face again. It's a great gamble because it costs you nothing and it's not like it would have made any sense to try to acquire some big-time SS from outside the organization.

I doubt many hitters can make adjustments this late. But we will ignore that possibility. Hmmm there was one guy who got a huge contract who is not living up to it this season.

While this is true, my big gripe is he refuses to sign big named players to big contracts. He's so risk adverse that he won't give out the big contracts needed to get established stars. Especially pitching. We still haven't broken the $100m contract of course. I'm not that impressed by the payroll history when you factor that in.

What pisses me off that there has been no effort to change things, not sure if it’s his fault or the hitting coach. Getz said yesterday that they’re going to try to fix him in the off-season.

Feels like Vargas gets to .250 and then stops hitting.
